Louis Vuitton Resort Collection 2006

actually, I'm not big Vuitton fan, but he's OK. Sandals are UHH! But collection not for me. Marc, what's to say - you hadn't idea for this resort, lol!

It's all ok, and the second outfit in the second post is quite nice but it's not really that interesting at all, IMO quite boring. And I sincerely hope the last top is designed for small children and not adults cause it's a little bit

Whoa, these are unbelievably ugly, so NOT an extension of Vuitton's terrific FW05 collection.

Candy pink.... ugh.

it looks as if it was for teenagers that love pink, the coats are the best thing of the collection

Louis Vuitton Cruise 2005-6

from fwd...

With the resort 2006 collection Louis Vuitton presented yesterday at the Gansevoort Hotel’s Garden patio, Marc Jacobs noticeably abandoned his dark, mysterious ways for fall and has now surrounded himself by his newest leading ladies: Jackie O and Audrey Hepburn.

Much like the collection that Frida Giannini presented for Gucci on Tuesday, Vuitton’s pieces displayed a lighter, airier take on fashion—though still conservative, tightly edited, and highly commercial—with a twist. Lace and macramé graced jackets, tops, and skirts; coats, one of the key elements of Vuitton’s collections season after season, were fashioned in lace with jeweled button brooches and in full volume, with rosebud buttons on the backs of sleeves and down the front. Jacobs played up the use of stylized flowers—a trademark for the French house—as evident by the short fringed-rope dresses and draped cotton jersey tops. A stunning piece was the soft pink scrunched top embellished with a dark rosebud print and adorned by miniature pink flowers. With the exception of two black skirts, a minidress, and a mustard colored one-piece suede shirtdress, the 17-piece presentation never strayed far from a delicate shade of rose.

Jackie O would most certainly have approved of the shoes, which ranged from low square heels to a high Lucite sandal, with the exception of one pair of gladiator sandals, adorned with the company’s signature flower. Totes featured the company’s old-school poster in honor of 101 Champs Elysées, and handbags were of the soft, beachy mini monogram print kind, complemented by pebbled leather and shown with matching floppy hats.

Overall, the collection was created with tremendous attention to detail, raising awareness of the fact that resort has become a serious consideration. “I’d say it is one-third of our spring business, if not near half,” remarked Jean-Marc Gallot, the company’s USA president. “We have come to realize the importance of cruise and are taking it very seriously. Cruise is becoming more and more important for us." This line, for example, will reach stores by November and remain viable for six months—through March.

Clothing and coveted handbags, however, weren’t the only attention-getters yesterday. Vuitton capitalized on its resort showing as a chance to formally present its full-fledged eyewear line, which will also hit stores in November. The 12-piece collection—six feminine, two masculine, and four unisex styles—are a separate venture from the recent collaboration between Jacobs and Pharrell and Nigo. The pieces, inspired by film noir, are a varying assembly of dark-hued frames, with high prices owing to the use of acetate in lieu of plastic, a special glitter pigment developed for the frames, and the ever important Vuitton name, which is not stamped, but rather set into the plastic, like marquetry, according to a spokesperson.

WOW...Those last bags are gorgeous, but the huge LV emblem is very off putting.

I know where Ive seen those sandals before. Galliano did very very similar for his first HC at Dior, S/S 97.

I like these bags!!! A lot less tackier than previous bags...

Through the description it seem slike a lovely thing. Im in love with that pink coat and th logos are in good taste this time around. I would love to see more. Also, the idead of showng the collection on mannequins is nice. That way you can really get up close and feel it.

Whoever dressed the mannequins could have done a better job though. For starters the mannequins are crap. Get some headless ones in a natural contrapposto (the best kind, methinks). And the clothes could be fitted to them. Im not just saying these things. At my young age Ive dressed and undressed enough mannequins to know these things.

All these clothes are giving me a high-end vintage feel, which should appeal to a lot of girls out there.

Everything is pretty, maybe too pretty - I am not feeling the gladiator sandals, I think there are too many embellishments on that one.

Ditto, Chiangsi. I missed the gladiators. Theyre slightly tacky. I dearly hope Jacobs had nothing to do with those:sick:

Hmm, on a whole the collection isn't too bad, but you can't help feeling something's wrong with it....

Definately. It should be easier to cut to a mannequin than a model, but that's me. Also it looks very bad that a mannequin with high heel legs is being used for flats, not even Hecht's does that. It just looks bad.

i dont like the presentation idea at all, everything (but the cute pale pink coat) looks boring to me, the gladiators are close to hiddeous and the ovesized logo bags are so out of tune with the generla 'less logo' trend ..
if they had used models, those dresses may have been tiny more appealing..

thanks for the photos and the article kimair :flower:

just realised the double topic, merging thanks to Alex .. ;)

Thanks for merging, Lena. :flower:

The logo on the last bag in Kimair's post brings to mind Armani Exchange, which is an absolutely pathetic thought. And even more pathetic...the logo sweater thing right above it. It looks like a ridiculous cheap fake that someone would try to sell on eBay for $9.99. Ugh...all of this stuff just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. :yuk:

I remember when Louis Vuitton was supposed to be a luxury goods label... :innocent:

i agree w/ alex...
some of those dresses are pretty cute, but i'm just not all that impressed... in fact, i've been quite disappointed in their accessories... with the type of things they're selling now, they should really consider havign sales, because they;re certainly not luxury classics anymore

I like that silk coat, but my Lord! those gladiators ... I like embellished shoes & I think they're hideous, wouldn't wear 'em on a bet. They scream "fashion victim" ... None of those shoes, I'm happy to say, look like Marc's work.
