Considering it is Melbourne Spring Fashion Week this week I thought it appropriate to give you a little bit of an insight into the gorgeous Face of this wonderful week of fashion.
Lucy McIntosh is a 22 year old Melbourne girl who has an impressive career to date with accolades as being in the debut series of Project Runway Australia in 2008. She also won Fashion TV’s (FTV) Diamond Model Award Competition in 2009 and this led to her coming the Ambassador for Oceania FTV. She’s worked overseas and yet is very excited to come back home and be chosen to be the Face of MSFW.
When asked what’s the what fashion is like in Melbourne she said, “Well, it’s Melbourne so we wear a lot of black. But boy, do we look good!”
In her role as the “Face”, Lucy will gracing the catwalk opening and closing the Designer Series shows and reporting on all the backstage action.
Now get to know Lucy a little more as she answers the following questions.
“Stop, Drop & Give me – well, as many as you have time for….”
1. What do you love most about Melbourne? I love the cafe culture of Melbourne. 2. What Melbourne city restaurants do you always make sure to visit? I would have to say Cookie ( for its food and live music), The Toff in Town(has beautiful intimate booths), Ginger boy(Love my Asian food..haha) and definitely Hairy Canary(has the best vibe, food and yummy cocktails!)!!
3. Do you have any favourite Melbourne city night spots? I love Madame Brussels! ( Love the garden inspired ‘tea party’ set up and they have an amazing terrace overlooking the city!) Beautiful!
4. Who are your favourite Australian designers? I love Sass and Bide….LifewithBird, Sportsgirl, Thurley, Yeojin Bae, Fat, Alpha 60, Dhini and Trimapee..The list goes on..Trust me..haha!
5. Where do you like to shop in Melbourne city? The City! It has everything from high end designer labels to the funky little boutiques..I love mixing “Eclectic”/”vintage ” style with a more structured “high End’ piece!
6. What is in your off-duty wardrobe? A great little black structured jacket( with shoulder pads, of course!) A pair of biker style boots, A nice pair of leggings and a loose, oversized top(wear it as a dress). I love to be comfy, but of course I try to do it with a bit of style!
7. What would be your top essential spring fashion staple this season? Hmmm, I LOVE clogs right now! Definitely a cute pair of clogs to put back with anything in your wardrobe this spring! 9. What is your biggest fashion splurge? I splurge all the time..haha!! I suppose when I finally bought myself a nice pair of Jimmy Choo sunglasses that was a splurge to me…Only because I knew I would either break them or lose them..But so far, so good! haha
10. Can you recall your worst fashion faux pas? Growing up in a country town I suppose I wasn’t as aware of fashion… But my poor hair suffered for it.. My hair was my way of expressing myself as a teenager..It went from Hot Pink highlights, to Jet Black, then Chopping it all off and bleaching it bright blonde! Hmmmmm!!!?
11. What are your top beauty tips for looking your best? Looking after my skin! Having a skin routine. I never go to bed without talking off my make up! A SPF face cream and drink LOTS of water!! If your skin is glowing you will look fab no matter what the occasion!
12. What are your top five Spring fashion tips or fashion must-haves? 1. A cute structured jacket, 2. A cool pair of sunnies, 3. Biker boots/clogs! 4. A colourful maxi dress to team with your clogs, 5. And a hat…Floppy and cute or a short brimmed black bowler hat!
13. What are you most looking forward to this Melbourne Spring Fashion Week? I’m most looking forward to representing my city in the industry I love! I love the fact that the public will be able to get to know me on a personal level, rather than just being a “face”, I will be a face with a voice! A voice that is extremely proud of Melbourne and Melbourne’s fashion industry!!
So I hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know this amazing girl and Face of this year’s Melbourne Spring Fashion Week.
