An issue dedicated to Africa to show how this continent is moving and developing while trying to get out of a difficult situation of poverty and illness. We’ve photographed influential personalities such as Presidents, First Ladies, and Queens, but also artists, writers, musicians, designers and models: they are the evidence that Africa is developing and progressing continuously and that only showing its positive side we can change the perception of collective imageries and make it attractive for the production not only of fuel but also of fashion, cinema and tourism. Rebranding Africa is important for the future of this continent and for the millions of young people that live in it.

The May-June issue of L’Uomo Vogue will be on newsstands starting May, 10th in Milan

I'm actually really rooting for reading the article written by Franca. I don't like the cover but it's the whole L'Uomo Vogue which is way too intellectual for my liking, obviously I love mags and especially fashion mags to be smart but not to the point of forgetting the fashion and focusing on very serious subjects, such as Africa. I like however the inside images, it feels like a reportage/documentary. Will wait for the actual editorials to turn up to decide if I'll buy this or not. Tks for the photos

I agree it would be great to see someone of African origin gracing the cover, however, even though I'm completely ignorant of Franca's involvement in the region, she does seem interested to know what goes on there, frequents it often and perhaps this is part of a compromise to, like the tagline says, rebrand Africa, and who represents that better than the man that's pushing on certain policies, and encouraging a group of people [that seemed like the only want that was left] of developed nations to get actually involved in presenting Africa and Africans like it should be. I think the impact of reaching out to younger people into fashion (and other outlets that tend to dissociate themselves from social issues) may create more awareness on the persistent lack of equality they indirectly endorse through their governments.. in the long run of course.. hopefully, and perhaps just naturally acknowledge it as a region where good and exciting things also happen and might be worth visiting and supporting. Having Ban Ki Moon to present this, make himself more known in popular culture angel, and break it all down in magazine/fashion lingo seems like an ambitious idea to me.

Love the set, and love that he seems to be wearing his own clothes.

She toured different African countries and took pictures of different designers, local models, artists, business people and politicians. All are featured in this issue i believe, cant wait to see the photo shoots that were done here
