M Le Monde December 8th 2012 : Karlie Kloss by Daniel Sannwald

wow, the sannwald edit is a mash-up of mel bles, jacob sutton and damien blottiere. i've commented before on this guy's inability to generate original ideas. not good.

I see some of Jacob Sutton here and there,
but then again I don't know who started
doing this thing first
not to be mean but Blottière isn't all original either.

thank you for the links.
I would be pretty pissed off about this if I were Sutton
by the way someone like Nathaniel Goldberg,
Glen Luchford or Collier Schorr
gotten that expensive to shoot this?
I mean the model cast is superb, the styling, from
waht I can see, is great and the photography is just... :ninja:

I absolutely agree about all the other elements of the shoot, casting, styling, great. Daniel is the weak link.

Wow, I love the cover and Karlie and Sean's editorial! The special effects work really well here (instead of looking cheap) and Karlie and Sean are just delivering. I prefer Karlie to Sean here, her posing and expressions are just spot-on. I would've liked some shots of them together.

The first thing that came to mind when I saw that editorial, was Benjamin Lennox's 'Dazzle' editorial for 10 magazine. With Sannwald's use of effects, it looks as if he took the key concepts straight from Peter Saville & Nick Knight's collaborations. I even remember that shoot he did recently for i-D that comes off as a cleaner "rework" of Nick Knight's 'Visions Couture', for me at least.

You can pretty much go through his portfolio and spot the references. Which is why I'm making such noise about it. I want to see something that I've never seen before, a combination that's new. not regurgitation.

oh, Le Volume is so chic. I love those type editorials where the glamorous clothes are worn in real life settings. Emeline is totally working those Celine and Stella pieces and showing the other students how to work ;)

+1 that it's regurgitated. And it never looks so good the second time around.

I nearly laughed my *** off when I read his bio on models.com

"His creative references are always complex, intelligent, intriguing and totally original, and his ascents to recognition has been steady and totally well-deserved."

Methinks they doth protest too much...
