Magda Schneider (Augsbourg, may, 17th 1909 – Castle of Schönau am Königssee, Berchtesgaden, July, 30th 1996) was a German actress and singer and mother of the actress Romy Schneider.
Magdalena Schneider was born on May 17, 1909 in Augsbourg), Bavaria. After training as a stenographer, she studied singing at the Augsbourg Academy and ballet at the theater. She made her stage debut at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich. She drew the attention of Ernst Marischka and in 1930, got her first role in a film.
In 1936, Schneider married the Austrian actor Wolf Albach-Retty, with whom she had two children : Rosemarie Magdalena, called Romy, and Wolfgang Dieter, later a surgeon, born in 1940. She was part of Hitler's social circle during the Second World War. She divorced Wolf Albach-Retty in 1945 and married the Cologne restaurant owner Hans-Herbert Blatzheim in 1953.
The same year, she appeared in the film When the white lilacs bloom again, which was also the film debut of her daughter Romy Schneider. She also appeared with her daughter in the films of the Sissi trilogy, based on the life of Elisabeth of Bavaria, with Romy Schneider starring in the title role and Magda Schneider taking the role of her mother.

!they show a different magda then the one i recalled.i think the only non romy film i saw her in was liebelei.romy later did a remake of this film- "christine" with alain delon.anyway thank you for starting this thread alicia and showing her in a different light
