I feel cheated!
Margiela lookbooks have been fabulous. The clothes looked good and modern and here we have a return to the runway with the same thing we had before…

Such a let down…And those theatrics. Oh no!

On the surface it doesn’t have anything to do with margiela and it looks like nothing else out there. I adore it. Really some great pieces in there. Ofcourse there is always this layer of bad taste in some details ( those bags are awful ) but it still all works. I’m happy it’s not using the common language of ‘cool’.

Looks like Gucci by Michele. Always the same styling tricks and unnecessary layering. It would be great as an editorial but not runway collection.

A lot of the models are trying to be 2000s runway stompers and failing pretty hard at it.

It is a good collection but we've seen this far too many times before not just at Margiela, but also at other brands where it feels more genuine. Simone Rocha, Sacai, No. 21, Erdem, Junya, Undercover, Yamamoto... I'm finding his Margiela is starting to get too fussy and stuffy. It's getting stale.

In all honesty, while I like this collection, you're right. The whole thing feels too showy and contrived for down-to-earth rustic Margiela. It worked better for Dior, where Galliano's grandiose theatrics laced perfectly with the house's hyperfemimine codes.

The trenchcoats are to die for, especially the 32 and 33 ones, I'm obsessed.

The rest are too much. The styling is doing too much, too many unnecessary layerings and the hats make everything look like a caricature.
The models are doing way too much.

If he returns to the runway just to be dramatic without much substance, then just give me a lookbook.

And they better sell what they showing because I will be mad if they do all of these just to sell those Mickey tops.
