Maison Margiela S/S 2026 Paris

I feel ill watching this. Genuinely. Like, I literally have to watch the show through my peripheral vision. After this, I never want to hear a model complaining about her high heels ever again.

I get that the mouthpieces are meant to mimic the four white stitches, but when all the looks have them the impact wears off and becomes a show gimmick. Plus it made me think of the human centipede in some weird way. They're just really distracting and annoying to see in every single look as well.

The kids orchestra is funny and cute, even if hard to push through. Very reminiscent to some of Margiela's early shows where the kids would storm the runway. The clothes I don't really have much to say but I'll wait for the images because it was a little too jump-cutty in the stream to really appreciate some of the pieces. I do like that it is a lot more realistic compared to Galliano. It feels truer to Margiela's spirit, although perhaps it also makes some of this appear reductive too.

Imagine having to hide behind the talent of a kids orchestra. Shameless.

Love the diva on the cello looking like she had better things to do and this was all but an ordeal on her schedule.

To be fair, the clothes are good, but Martens is making the brand too sinister and edgy for no reason, first with the vibe of the Artisanal show, and now with the mouthpieces. It should be more human, and now it's getting disturbing.

The orchestra was great though, or great in the context of Margiela.

BRAVO!!!!
Oh I love this! Smiled the whole show!
He studied Martin’s Margiela. The whole thing felt natural, easy.
The messy music was something that was always happening at Martin’s shows. The clothes are fabulous for men and women.
It’s almost surprising at this point to see a round shoulder or a natural shoulder.

I loved it. It made me think of Maison Martin Margiela while moving forward. It’s a great feeling.

And Ludivine Poiblanc looked hyper-chic (as usual) on her seat.

There is a difference between messy music and a full-blown cacophony that's genuinely painful to listen to.

The collection was uneventful. I understand it was closer to Margiela than whatever Galliano did, but after his tenure, which was quite sophisticated and rich in terms of technique, this felt rather basic. I am not sure if it was a good idea to move on completely considering how they changed the pricing and positioning of the brand under John.

In agree 100% - This feels very much like the vestiaire Martin envisioned at the house and how I remember people dressing like in MMM back in the days; quite low-fi, in subtly twisted classics.

It was nice to see that John had the chance to redeem himself through his time with Margiela but it felt like something completely different, only very vaguely reminiscent of the houses' past.

This show brought my PTSD back with full force of the time the neighbor’s kids were learning piano and they spent what seemed like an eternity everyday eviscerating Claire de Lune.

Onto the clothes, it frankly didn’t get me excited in any way shape or form, the leather looks were cool and I liked the sinister vibe they gave off with the mouthpieces. The draped dresses with wallpaper prints were also cute. The rest is so so at best.

Really safe for a first collection.
I don’t feel excited or intrigued, nor in love with these clothes.
What does it add to the conversation ?

The MMM collection for H&M had more impact.
It seems that the ugly men velcro sneakers are back…Kanye wlll be thrilled.

Much more in tune with what the brand stands for than before with Galliano.

I enjoyed it fully on mute. The mouthpieces are unnecessary.

It just felt flat compared to his couture debut which was amazing.
