Apparently it's a season of peculiar/unsettling soundtracks, and Margiela is actually a house where that used to be lowkey part of the protocol, so I tolerate and even appreciate it here, particularly in combination with the "mouth stitches" that are indeed kind of gimmicky, but along with the orchestra they contributed to this image of muted adults marching to the beat that the children dictated.. funny and scary at once.
As for the clothes, they were alright and obviously quite Margiela, sometimes in an almost obedient way, which made them seem not that impactful on a first glance which, again, maybe was the point - to remind everyone that Margiela was never really about creating an opulent fantasy (no matter how hard Galliano pushed that), but rather about tweaking the mundane, making something (extra) out of the ordinary. In line with that, I believe there are many details that are waiting to be discovered up close(r), and many more ideas to follow from Martens.
