Makeup Tips For Guys

the point of an oxygenating cream is to anti-bacterialise any problem area.........not to feed you with oxygen

i dont really use that cream at the moment. my skin in blah again

Same here...Im starting to feel pressured with Uni and a lot of deadlines to come, and im sooo stressed... I hate stress!!

[email protected] Well if any men reading this would like to see more make-up ranges for men then email me and tell me what u would like to see and if you wear make-up at the moment what do u wear? I think that men would benefit from having a range for themselves as some men want to wear it but dont want to go out and buy brands aimed at women i would also imagine that the gaultier one is expensive so wouldnt a more affordable one be more desirable? Let me know straight men gay men trannys whatever u are. from michelle.

I have an ex who used to wear concealor to cover up his acne and it was a bit weird... I was actually quite comfortable with (considering the shock of finding makeup in your boufriend's bathroom) but he'd get REALLY offended if I pointed out an area where it was all splotchy. Most girls will thank you for pointing that sort of stuff out for them...

The only way I'd be offended is if your pointing out a flaw seems to be part of a scheme to tell me that I shouldn't wear makeup, either directly or indirectly because I'm a guy. If I don't detect any vibes or other hints of that sort, I would not be offended, but would thank you for your constructive criticism.

Of course, the only constructive criticism I got from a woman was from one female friend who told me that my face looked a bit monochromatic in makeup. I know she meant it as constructive criticism, because she then told me I should use blush. So, I started using blush, and I agree it looks better.

Very few people have criticized me at-all for wearing makeup. Most of the very-few who even *notice* it say that I look *great* in it. And even some of those who *don't* notice it say I look great when I'm wearing it, even thoguh they can't tell *why*.

As for your ex, my first-guess is that he might have been offended due to being insecure in the first place about being a guy who used cosmetics - and when you commented on something being splotchy, it called forth a fact he was insecure about. My reason for guessing this is because you mentioned that he used just concealer instead of full makeup. Frankly, I don't see how it's possible to do the conealer-only thing *without* it looking splotchy.

just an interesting fact to share:
in the first 6 months of jean paul gaultier mens make-up selling at selfridges in london, it sold more items than the womens delecor counter did

Male Vanity 101 - A Recommendation In Male Cosmetics !

I've been using male cosmetics for quite some time now. I've had experience with approximately a dozen various male cosmetic lines (From Menaji to Jean Paul Gaultier). Here are my recommendations for cosemetics that men should wear to enhance their masculinity, but avoid looking "made up" or feminine.

1) 4voo Shine Reduction Powder

http://www.4voo.com/powder.htm

(My favorite shine reduction powder because its translucent. The key with cosmetics is to avoid an overall caked on effect, especially for men. This product goes on very light.)

2) 4voo Luminous Lips

http://www.4voo.com/luminouslips.htm

(Excellent product. Keeps your lips moist and hydrated without the glossy feminine shine.)

3) XCD Self Tan Facial Moisturizer

http://www.xcdskn.com/site/product/usa_enhancer.htm

(Forget self tanners, bronzers, and bronzing powders. It's all sh*t, and none of it looks anywhere remotely close to real. So, I tried this and low and behold it works. Helps save me a trip to the tanning salon and I don't have the added bonus of wrinkled, leather skin).

4) XCD Perfecter Smoothing & Mattifying Gel

http://www.xcdskn.com/site/product/usa_perfecter.htm

(This is like foundation in a bottle, yet it's translucent and very light, but evens out your entire skin tone complexion.)

5) Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler

http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P8119&categoryId=&shouldPaginate=

(Best eyelash curler I've used. Curls your eyelash with a natural curl)

6) Studio 5ive Mascara

http://www.studio5ive.com/HTML/mens-mascara.htm

(I like this mascara because it's a light brown. It simply "enhances" you lashes as opposed to looking like your a drag queen. )

7) Studio 5ive Concealer

http://www.studio5ive.com/HTML/mens-concealer.htm

(This guy gets rid of dark under eye circles REALLY! I use it sparsely and it blends perfectly)

8) Studio 5ive Brow Gel

http://www.studio5ive.com/HTML/mens-brow-gel.htm

(This may be my most coveted product of all. I love it. After using it the first time, it's now a life long essential. Another gel I'd recommend is Origins Brow Fix as it is equally good.)

9) Studio 5ive Brow Shader

http://www.studio5ive.com/HTML/mens-beard-shader.htm

(Again this one is great because it helps you fill in sparse areas of the brow to have a defined shape and yet it isn't noticeable that you're wearing anything.)

Well...there it is, any questions let me know !

a few questions: what nationality are you? does this affect your choice in male cosmetics? what exactly odes the brow shader do if you have bushy unruly eyebrows? do you use the concealer as a blemish concealer ever? what products do you use to clean all this stuff off?

Trade Secrets

Tom Ford, fashion designer: ''If you've been in the public eye and a groomer puts bronzer on, it is hard not to be addicted. I wear tinted moisturiser, cover stick and a Clinique bronzer but I don't do anything to my eyelashes, I'm lucky in that way. That is where men go wrong with eye lifts - lower is fine, but upper gives you a weird feminine look. Oh, I hate giving my beauty secrets away...I have always loved beauty and have, in fact, been ribbed in the press for it. But hair and make-up are as important as clothes they define a character. They can transform a little black dress. It can be made Fifties with eyeliner, or Twenties with a Louise Brooks bob and sexy oiled-up eyes and lashes. And, being a vain human being, I also have a personal interest. I'm fascinated by the ability to transform a face through cosmetics - it's the creative side that
interests me.'As a young homosexual child of 10 - OK, I did not know I was homosexual then - if I was left with the babysitter I would give my sister a makeover. Hair with raw eggs, cucumber on the eyes - whatever I had seen on TV.''

Two sexist comments made their way here. They should be deleted.

This place is for tips, not opinions of whether men should be wearing makeup.

Capeesh?

For guys, tinted moisturizer, concealer, powder to set if needed, bronzer, clear or brown mascara, tinted lipbalm, AND shaped eyebrows!

That's what male celebrities wear, as much as I know/ discovred, and I am very cool about males wearing makeup, sexist comments should be deleted from this thread.

One tip: do not use concealor on razor burn. It WILL clump up in it. Use a light, moisturizing foundation. Or a tinted moisturizor. I learned this the very hard way. And POWDER!! It is a must!!! You will be glowing by the end of the day w/o it, and not in a good way. Also, if clear mascara for the brows turns you off a bit, try this: Take a q-tip and hold it very close to a hairspray bottles opening. then, soak it in hairspray. shake off the extra and voila!! there is enough for two brows left on the q-tip. NOTE: don't use mega hold. Can we say flaky brows? Eww......

Tinted moisturizer is the only make-up I recommend for men; I think its just a bit more natural-looking than foundation..Ive used the MAC tinted moisturizer, but Ive learned you have to be careful: if you use too much & have oily skin, like myself, you'll wind up looking like you've been bobbing for french-fries at your local McDonalds..I heard Clinique offers a more matte tinted moisturizer but I havent tried that..

And dont forget your lip-balm..dry lips are the worst!

HAHA! I had an ex that used to hide an old girlfriend's bottle of foundation in his bathroom - and use it periodically. He was the macho type, but I don't see what the problem is - guy's should be able to use concealer... just properly!

go to KOrea - tons of foundations "for men" and concealers (although i don't know what the difference is with women's makeup!)
