I don't usually post on this thread, but Mandy has a super cute interview in this week's issue of Newsweek:
April 24, 2006 issue - In "American Dreamz," Mandy Moore plays a conniving contestant in a talent show that's a lot like "American Idol." She chatted with NEWSWEEK's Nicki Gostin.
If you weren't famous now, would you have auditioned for "American Idol"?
MANDY MOORE: I probably would have and been more obsessed with the show than I am now, which is kind of scary. I don't think I would have made it very far. Why?
I don't know if I could perform under that pressure. I think I would get knocked out in the first round. Simon would say something mean to me, and I'd start crying.
You were discovered by a FedEx guy?
Isn't that weird? A FedEx guy heard me sing at a recording studio, and he knew the head of A&R at Epic Records, and he sent my totally unfinished demo off to him. Thank God for FedEx.
If I were you, I would never use UPS.
I do have loyalty to FedEx. Eternally.
You dated Wilmer Valderrama. Who hasn't dated him?
But I was the first! I was 16; he was my first boyfriend. I started quite the trend, didn't I? Ladies love them some Wilmer. He's a good guy. I actually still keep in touch with him. I think people make him out to be this crazy ladies' man, but he's such a gentleman. My parents loved him.
And now you're dating Zach Braff. Was it weird working on "Scrubs"?
I'm there all the time. I just love to watch and hang out and laugh, so to be on the show was so much fun.
Are you like the Yoko Ono of "Scrubs"?
I hope not!
