^^^OMG I really, really like those Sedarabys. They almost have an Imperial Russian feel to them, which I love! Dang, if I pass the CFA exam, I might have to treat myself to a pair! Although I could really use the brown Mary Janes for work!
no, they only come in black. and i looked at it again today. the SISULU shoes are in black satin with black patent trim and black patent heel. VERY pretty for a pair of black shoes. i hope they will last until the next sale.
i didn't see any ringos today at the SF NM....i must have walked right by them. for shame! i will need to go back and look at them again.
^^ that steve madden ringo look alike..is probably a manolo shoe photoshopped with his tags. The shoe isnt even available until 10.23.07 and im sure his shoe wont even be dead on, much less similiar (once finished product hits shelves) he makes me sick...why arent these designers like manolo, louboutin, choo etc doing anything???
^ I know, I know. I'm thinking about getting a different shoe now, but I do love the Ringos. Isnt it copyright to use the Manolo shoe and photoshop? I hate Oh Deer shoes too, Louboutin should sue
im with you on the photoshop problem.
maybe a kind member could post both to compare...
i agree, they MUST do something... i know its difficult to sue when someone just copies the style without naming it the same... i think that makes it often legal as im pretty sure manolo, louboutin et al do not register every single style they produce and come up with each season...
i would love to know though
... that'll be my next mission!!
there are laws that protect this sort of thing. ( Im in lawschool, so have not quite gotten into copyright infrigement) mayebe blkladylaw could shed some light....but there has to be something protecting a brand when its being imitated...for example....like when people use the mcdonalds's famous gold arch symbols on there own restaraunts...people are decieved into thinking that that restaraunt is associated with mcdonalds etc etc....yall get what I mean? why cant these idiots at steve madden come up with there own original concepts??? POSERS!!! ughhhhh. makes me sick to know that I spent so much on the original manolo and now some other chick will be out there in a few months with a similiar shoe thinking me and her are twins because " both our shoes are from steve madden" barf barf
I found this on the US copyright site and last year legislation appears to have been introduced to add protection for fashion design. Currently it appears that it is very difficult to have any claim under many of the IP protections (beyond copying your brand trademarked name/logos) for this in the US hence why the legislation was introduced. They are recommending a short term where no one else can imitate like 3 years. There was some suggestion that there may be more protections under European laws.
This is all fascinating from a law perspective especially since I do intellectual property law but my focus in generally technology....I'm not as familiar with how it applies to fashion. And patents in particular are not my thing. If work ever slows down and I get a break I'd love to research the state of the laws on this further just out of curiosity.
