Super off topic, why do so many places in Russia finish with grad, Stalingrad,Kaliningrad, Leningrad...I know Lenin and Stalin but grad?Sorry if this question is stupid or if I am being too ignorant.

As you noticed, she's from Kaliningrad, a russian enclave on Baltic Sea, separated from the rest of the country...

What you said it's so true, but the thing gets even more complicated because in soviet times people's mobility was encouraged by the government, so i.e. in Latvia around one third of the population is made by russians, and many of them don't even speak latvian...(therefore, half of them aren't even granted a normal latvian passport but only a "alien" one).
This means that sometimes it's hard for the ex-USSR people themselves to say who's who...


Edit: about the "grad" thing...it comes from the russian word "gorod", which means "town", so i.e. Leningrad meant "Lenin's town"
