It's OK, I guess. I wasn't expecting much from US Vogue, anyway. Anna Wintour is unbelievably dull.

On playing in the Expressionist-Surrealist band Yodelice fronted by composer Mazim Nucci: “I play the bass guitar, keyboard, and tambourine—I’m their one-woman band and all-purpose maid,” Cotillard explains. She’s taken to appearing with Yodelice on tour, dressed as a man, under “Simone,” the name of her maternal grandmother. “It’s pretty refreshing to be in a situation where the spotlight is on someone else.”

On her Oscar winning portrayal of Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose: When the film was over, she couldn’t shake Piaf. Her hairline and her eyebrows were still shaved. She fled with Canet to Peru and the Amazon; she went to Bora Bora with her best friend, Geraldine. “It was there that I found myself articulating why Piaf was still living inside me. She had been abandoned as a child; her greatest fear was to be alone. Now I didn’t want to abandon her. I finally was able to say, ‘She’s been dead for 40 years; it’s OK.’”

Her inspiration for her character in the musical Nine: She goes into every character as deeply: lived on the Menominee reservation for Billie Frechette, spent four months learning to dance for Luisa in Nine. Her inspirations for the cockolded director’s wife included Fellini’s wife, Giulietta Masina, and Eleanor Coppola’s documentary Hearts of Darkness, about the shooting of Apocalypse Now. Photos of Audrey Hepburn gave her “the hairdo with the big personality, the thick bangs and the ponytail. You paint your character with colors you have taken from everywhere.”

I don't think that cover should have been the cover at all. Her editorials
are much much better.

Do you despise ALL Vogues or the American version only? I've taken to buying the British version more often since the American version is repetitive.

american vogue in particular SUCKS. i absolutely agree about them not doing her justice. marion has such a remarkle dynamic-she's like a chameleon..it's rare that they choose someone who is actually worthy of the cover...unlike all of these bland one dimensional actresses who are obviously just favorites of anna wintour. (hello sienna miller)

i havent bought a copy of vogue in years. every supermarket in my town is packed with them, for any quality fashion magazines i have to go to a barnes & noble or some other specialty bookstore and pay $10-15 extra because theyre always imported

^Yep. Absolutely agree. Most of the time Im in Europe, so I get to have the real fashion magazines easily. But recently, Ive been in US and its a pain!!!! US Vogue sucks incredibly much! I have to be very desperate to buy it, or unless it some of my all-time fav stars on the cover, and even then, Ana W manages to pick the worst possible shot. Such is the case with Marion

The cover is quite good. I was expecting worse - it's US Vogue after all. I like the ed too.

I want to see Marion in Vogue Paris.

I think the thing that's off for me in the Vogue shots is her hair?
She must be wearing a wig as her hair has not been that dark in a long time, nor that short since about May last year when she chopped it off for a film role!

I kind of get a Cecil Beaton vibe from the photos - which I LOVE.
But I think the shorter style is a little too mature for her when paired with the styling.
In saying that though, I still think that they're beautiful.
I'm so happy that US Vogue chose to run with her. It's a risk for a major US mag so i'm glad that they took it!

I just hope we get to see something really fresh and vibrant from another mag in the coming months! VP would be a dream! We all know she could pull it off.
