The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Marion Cotillard, the 36-year-old France native who won a best actress Oscar five years ago for her performance as singer Edith Piaf in Olivier Dahan's La vie en rose and is contending for another this year for her performance as a paraplegic in Jacques Audiard's Rust and Bone, will receive the Hollywood Actress Award at the 16th annual Hollywood Film Awards -- the first awards show of the 2012 Oscar season -- when its gala ceremony is held Oct. 22 at the Beverly Hilton.

The Hollywood Awards, which are associated with the Hollywood Film Festival and determined by HFF founder and executive director Carlos de Abreu and his advisory team, recognize individuals for both career achievement and work released within the calendar year. Cotillard also won the Hollywood Actress Award in 2007; other recipients include Drew Barrymore (1999), Angelina Jolie (2000), Nicole Kidman (2001), Jennifer Aniston (2002), Diane Lane (2003), Annette Bening (2004 and 2010), Charlize Theron (2005), Penelope Cruz (2006), Kristin Scott Thomas (2008), Hilary Swank (2009) and Michelle Williams (2011).
Of Cotillard, de Abreu tells THR, "It is a privilege to honor her great talent, as well as her outstanding performance in Rust and Bone."

Prior to Cotillard's career breakthrough in La vie en rose, the actress was best known for her performances in Gerard Pires' Taxi (1998), Tim Burton's Big Fish (2003), Jean-Pierre Jeunet's A Very Long Engagement (2004) and Ridley Scott's A Good Year (2006). Since then, she has starred in such high-profile Hollywood films as Michael Mann's Public Enemies (2009), Rob Marshall's Nine (2009), Steven Soderbergh's Contagion (2011), Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris (2011) and Christopher Nolan's Inception (2010) and The Dark Knight Rises (2011). If Oscar-nominated for Rust and Bone, she would become just the fifth woman to score multiple acting noms for performances in a foreign language, joining Isabelle Adjani, Penelope Cruz, Sophia Loren, and Liv Ullmann.

THR recently reported the names of several other Hollywood Film Awards honorees, including the recipients of the Hollywood Producer Award, Hollywood Animation Award, Hollywood Comedy Award, New Hollywood Award, Hollywood Breakout Performance Award, Hollywood Cinematographer Award, and Hollywood Visual Effects Award.

In the past nine years, Hollywood Film Awards honorees went on to garner a total of 85 Oscar nominations and 32 Oscars.
