Marta has a pure, delicate beauty that reflects her poetic soul. This Polish princess has only worked locally, but her look guarantees a global demand. This angelic girl has depth and grace – her test shots showcase her chameleon like ability to change and adapt. In Paris briefly this summer, Marta is a girl we’re hoping to see on the catwalks this coming season.

Every week, Bazaar's booking team highlights one name to note, from the industry's best-known faces to girls who are just starting out. This week, we turn our attention to Marta Gawron.

The Polish beauty Marta Gawron possesses a unique, snow-queen elegance that has led to an exemplary list of appearances in the biggest magazine titles in the world. More specifically, Bazaar's October issue, a Vogue Poland shot by Sonia Szóstak and a cover for Elle Croatia.

“Marta is one of the most level-headed models on our books, nothing seems to faze her,” says Joey Tachie-Menson at Storm Models. “In an industry where things are constantly changing this is an important quality.”

Following in the footsteps of Polish supermodels such as Anja Rubik and Jac Jagaciak, Gawron has enjoyed editorial success. Her plans for her catwalk debut make us wonder if she could be the next model from her country to take the industry by storm.

We talk to Gawron about surfing, her love of vintage and the best art spots to visit in Warsaw.

How were you discovered?

“I was approached by a scout in a coffee shop in front of my high school in Warsaw.”

If you weren’t modelling, which career would you pursue and why?

“I studied art in university. If I wasn’t modelling, I’d either be doing photography or something with music.”

What would you say has been the highlight of your career so far?

“I worked for a couple great magazines, but the biggest moments for me are when I get out of my comfort zone and kill it.”

How do you spend your free time?

“In the city, I like long mornings with coffee and music. In the summer, I enjoy surfing.”

Do you have any travel tips for those visiting your hometown?

“Warsaw is great in the summer, with its beach by the riverside, bars and bike rides. Check what’s on in Zacheta National Art Gallery and the Modern art Museum; or head straight for a coffee (we have plenty of great coffee). The city is most beautiful in autumn when the trees turn red.”

What is your favourite form of exercise?

“I used to do loads of ashtanga yoga, nowadays I like to run. In the summer I leave the city. I stay in Greece as a kitesurfing instructor. Surfing and other outdoor sports are best for me. I’m not a fan of the gym.”

What is your dream shoot?

“Shooting with Tim Walker in Iceland. I would have loved to work for Alexander McQueen when he was alive.”

If you had to wear only one designer, who would it be?

“Vintage. I can’t pick just one. There are too many great pieces.”

What kind of advice would you give to new girls to the industry?

“Stay true to yourself. Put your wellbeing first. Be kind and never forget to appreciate all the people and experiences you get.”

Is there a model’s career that you admire and why?

“Petra Collins. I like her artwork.”

What is your life motto?

“And so it goes!”

Let’s talk about favourites. What about…

…music? “Frankie Knuckles, Massive Attack, Run the Jewels, the Dead Weather (I can go on for ever).”

…movies? Taxi Driver, Only Lovers Left Alive, Dirty Harry and Eyes Wide Shut. ”

…books? The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov.”

…food? “Broccoli, Chinese cabbage, falafel wraps and lemon pie.”
