Marthe Wiggers is local label Alice McCall's AW14 campaign cover girl. Shot by Pierre Toussaint, IMG's Tokyo-based elfin blonde got super windswept on set and took time out to talk to us afterwards.
Jerico Mandybur: How is Japan?
Marthe Wiggers: Life in Tokyo is fun, but very different from Sydney. Everyone lives in an apartment, and it's very crowded with 15 million people living in Tokyo alone. Unlike Sydney, many shops are open till midnight which is great for late night shopping. I have to say though, even after having lived in Tokyo for quite a while, I still can't read or understand Japanese.
What do you miss about Sydney?
I really miss the ocean, breakfast and a coffee at the Grounds, chilling in Manly, the wide open space but most of all I miss my friends. That's why I try to come back as much as I can.
How did the Alice McCall campaign come about?
I had heard about her but never bought anything from her collections. I was surprised to hear that she sells lots of clothes in Japan. When I'm back in Tokyo I am going to check her out because I loved each outfit I got to wear! I was so happy when I got to keep a few clothes as an early Christmas gift from Alice.
Have you ever worked with Pierre before?
I've never worked with Pierre before, but I've been following his Instagram for a long time and I love his photographs!
