Mary Katrantzou S/S 2014 London

Unlike many people here, I'm never bored of Mary's prints. But this is somewhat disappointing. I don't get the concept here, and the shapes are random and weird.

I'm pretty different, I don't like last collection that much, but dig this one.

In the name of everything that's good and decent, someone needs to take the digital printer away from this woman.

I prefer the second half to the first. It seems like two different collections, really.

I have never understood Mary´s point of view. Just basic garments with digital prints over and over and over?? Is that all??

I wouldn't say basic, I think her designs are quite detailed up close. She explores different textures and uses embellishments.

style

At any rate, this is miles better than her last spring collection.

I just have an overwhelming issue with designers, that design for the gender they identify with, who don't wear their own clothes.

I can see your point; but if you remove all the prints, ornaments and embellishments, you can tell there is no much playing with cuts and silhouette. Everything depends on the prints, ornaments and embellishments.
Not a bad thing in that, but it just isn´t my cup of tea.

Prints, trompe l'oeil is her signature... I don't see why she should abandon it to make ... what exactly...? While I may not always like everything she does, I do applaud her for doing her own thing.

If you have such strong emphasis on the print, its a bit too much to play with cuts at the same time. Its her conscious choice to have a simple silhouette. And I don't think the cuts are boring at all, many of them could work without the print as well.

For me personally, the ruffles aren't doing anything, so I definitely prefer the first part of the show.

Yes, as you say is totally her choice. It is just that, for me, that means limiting herself just to making the same again and again.
