We urgently needed a thread on Matohu and since no one's started it, i jumped!.
I've been in love with their designs since discovering the brand earlier this year, they seem to make such simple and yet very elegant clothes, and the details (feathers being their signature, apparently) look beautiful up-close. I wonder if it's very popular in Japan, or if anyone here [runner?] has bought an item from them ?.

Matohu is a Japanese concept. It has two meanings:

The first meaning is to wear clothes in such a way that it creates an atmosphere of beauty, like the motion of
wrapping your body softly, and leaving a gentle afterglow.

The second gives the sense of restraint, allowing oneself to mature, like a fruit, slowly, and not to consume
something hastily and throw it away.

Katabira is the unlined Summer kimono .
This collection was inspired by a cool and unique Katabira, which was printed with dancing crabs and worn by the great war lord, Tokugawa Ieyasu,.
We created a modern, cheerful Katabira, with the motif of Myoga, a Japanese Summer vegetable.

Makie is a decorative style, original to Japan, in which gold flakes are scattered on the surface, as in Urusi lacquer.
Makie, in the Momoyama Era was called, "Kodaiji-makie". It was an epoch-making refinement. Makie was used to draw Autumn flowers and plants on walls, pillar, boxes and tableware.
We re-created Makie in our collection by using a design of real autumn plants.

thanks Mullet!
I wouldn't say it's very popular.
it's still new.
this S/S 07 seems to be their first full-scale show.
but they seem to have developed their abilities under some other companies/designer for six years.
I'm expecting more of them than I do from a newcomer.
I don't have anything from them.
but I'd like to check it since they seem to accept personal orders, which sounds yum.
