EXCLUSIVE: I've just learned that Paramount won't be picking up Megan Fox's option on Transformers 3 -- and that it was "ultimately" director Michael Bay's decision. (So he gets his revenge for her remark comparing him to "Hitler".) Right now Bay and writer Ehren Kruger et al are finishing up the script for the threequel and "giving Shia a new love interest makes more sense for the story," an insider tells me. Bay will start casting immediately for the new female co-star. Let's hear your suggestions, readers...

So did Megan deserve to get fired? I say yes. No actor/actress can expect to go around dissing a director and expect to work together as if nothing happened. Much less the egotistical Bay. But in Fox, he had met his match. Why, as recently as this week Megan was quoted as dissing Bay yet again. In recent months she has shown off a more natural skin hue instead of her usual orange color -- and blamed the Transformers helmer for her unhealthy tanning binge. "I had been tanning a lot so that Michael would be happy with my skin tone. Every spare moment of sun that was outside, I had to be in it," the 24-year-old actress lamented in Allure magazine. "It's not going to happen again because of the damage and the possible skin cancer."

This is without doubt a huge blow to Megan's career, already damaged by her inability to open Twentieth's Fox Atomic film Jennifer's Body last September. The R-rated feminist horror flick did a pathetic $6.8M weekend for a script by Juno's Diablo Cody for a domestic total of only $16.2M and a worldwide take of just $31.5M. And talk about bad timing: right now she's doing publicity for her role in Jonah Hex to be released June 18th. Guess what everyone will ask her?

Deadline Hollywood first reported that Paramount is not picking Megan Fox's contract up for a third Transformers movie. Paramount confirmed the news to ET.

Somewhere in Los Angeles, Megan Fox is getting a pedicure on her thumbs while crying into a bowl of toe jam and water. No, probably not.

Michael Bay is currently looking for a sexy new love interest for Shia LaBeouf's character. QUICK! Somebody slide Quween of the Scene's picture and resume to Michael Bay!

While everybody is doing the dick slappy dance at the thought of Megan Fox taking her first step on the road to irrelevancy, I'm a little sad. If Megan isn't doing Transformers 3, that means she won't be doing promotion for it, which means we won't be gifted with her profound words of wisdom.

Won't you miss feeling your brain cells slowly slip out the back door while reading one of her quotes? Aren't you getting a little teary eyed at the thought of never dunking your head in a sink full of electrified water to bring your dead brain back to life after reading a Megan Fox interview? I am.

I really like her, but I think she was fired. The source from my original post is usually more than reliable when it comes to the going ons in the industry. I think Megan's people might be trying to save face.

Megan Fox nixed from 'Transformers 3'
Paramount, Michael Bay seeking new co-star for LaBeouf

A studio spokeswoman disclosed Wednesday that Par has decided against picking up Fox's option to star as Mikaela Banes in the third installment, but declined to elaborate.

Sources close to the production indicated that Par and director Michael Bay want to take the storyline in another direction and plans to cast another actress as the love interest for star Shia LaBeouf, who plays Sam Witwicky. Those sources indicated that Fox's ouster was un- related to a September interview with a British magazine in which Fox compared Bay with Adolf Hitler.

Bay's directing from a script by Ehren Krueger with the storyline kept under wraps. Working title is "Transformers 3."

Pic, produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Ian Bryce, is set to open July 1, 2011. Steven Spielberg is exec producing.

Patrick Dempsey, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich and Ken Jeong have signed on to the project. Thesps Kevin Dunn and Julie White will return in the roles of Ron Witwicky and Judy Witwicky.

"Transformers" is Paramount's most valuable franchise, particularly since the studio is the sole financier. The first "Transformers" grossed $709.7 million worldwide, followed by $836.4 million for last year's "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen."

Initially, Bay had wanted to take a longer break before lensing the threequel, but ultimately decided to meet the studio's summer 2011 release date.

Fox will be seen next in Warner's supernatural Western "Jonah Hex" opposite Josh Brolin. "Hex" opens June 18.

i don't know who walked away first but there sure had to be a disagreement - there were pics of Megan in pre-production for Transformers 3 so both sides were obviously in the boat - and now she is not in the boat anymore - i rather tend to think that she was kicked off the boat and not walked away herself because she knows very well that she still isn't a superstar but just a name - her attempt to make it at the box office by her name as the leading actress totally failed with jennifer's body and a franchise is something even big stars don't shield away from because it is lucrative and gets your name to the studio bosses and the audience (e.g. robert downey jr., gwyneth paltrow, scarlett johansson, kirsten dunst, natalie portman etc. all joined franchise movies and have been in the business for a much longer time than miss fox)

So Megan Fox is out of Transformers 3 and her replacements are already being discussed. But it seems that Fox is not willing to let movie studios or film journalists write her narrative. Proving that she will not go quietly into that good night, representatives for Fox told People magazine that it was in fact her idea to leave the franchise that made her a star: “Megan Fox will not be starring in Transformers 3…It was her decision not to return. She wishes the franchise the best.”

Seems like a dubious but understandable attempt at damage control by Fox. Deadline has a pretty good rundown of the history of Fox’s PR tussles, but I think the most incisive point is that Fox’s post-Transformers career hasn’t exactly lit the world aflame. Jennifer’s Body only took in $16 million domestically, while Jonah Hex looks like it could be a hit or miss, probably the latter. Would anyone in her position really turn down a cash cow like Transformers, even if it meant working with Michael Bay?

Coming as quite the shocker to the franchise's fans, it was reported earlier today that Megan Fox will not be taking part in "Transformers 3". The move comes after the 24-year-old was spotted on the movie's readying set earlier this month, though it now seems as if the May 2nd sighting will be her last when it comes to the "Tranformers" series.

They decided it was more cost effective and easier on the nerves if they used a wig-wearing piece of wet cardboard as Shia LaBeouf's love interest instead. And they would probably get more raw emotion out of a piece of cardboard. But wait! Megan Fox wants it known that Michael Bay did not throw her as* towards the exit sign, she quit that b*tch!

Megan's spokesbitch tells People, “Megan Fox will not be starring in Transformers 3. It was her decision not to return. She wishes the franchise the best.”
