I'm hoping it isn't true. Having read the script and already been disappointed by Tarantino's recent films, it sounds like it's going to be over-the-top, self-indulgent violent trash, and not in the fun way. Considering she said hated holding a gun in
La Chambre des morts, didn't like the genre, and the violence and horror in that film was very mild, all things considered, it seems surprising that Mélanie would even want to be part of this movie.
I'd rather see her break onto the international scene with a part that's more "her," for lack of a better term, if only because being in her element would give the international audience a better look at what she's capable of as an actress. And that's a heartfelt performance like in
Je vais bien, ne t'en fais pas, not a camp bloodbath where she's blowing up Nazis.
Pulp Fiction and
Reservoir Dogs are two of my favorite movies, but I just cringe to think of people who don't follow French cinema only knowing Mélanie for
Inglorious Bastards as it looks so far.
I realize I'm in the minority here, but that's my 2 cents.

My fingers are crossed that Hollywood comes calling with something that stinks a little less.
