He played both the good guy and the villain (the old man), which I think was based on some lawyer from the 1993 case.

It's really funny how Michael plays with the shopping cart, and loses it, then somebody yells:
if you can't keep track of your cart, you shouldn't shop!

The footage you're talking about is a BTS for the Ghosts short movie. He is being disguised as the mayor.
It's not done so that he can go out without being recognized but he did love to keep the disguise on after filming and go out.
He loved doing that, being able to observe what "the real world" was like.

I saw on ET that Michael could draw very well.

Looks like he is simply writing something.
