Apparently he wrote many songs and put them away for the benefit of his children's future.

Some Beatles fans get upset because we say such things, they'd say without Beatles there was no Michael, and Michael was only covering it to pay tribute.
True, but I also think sometimes artists cover other peoples work because they know they can do better, otherwise why bother?
To think of it the other way round, there is hardly anyone covering a Michael Jackson song that can manage to beat the original, be it any song.
This is exactly why Michael Jackson was the greatest legend that he was.
