Michael Kors Collection S/S 2020 New York

For a Michael Kors collection, it's not bad. Is it "Fashion" with a capital letter "F" ? Definitely not. But I feel there are things his core clientele and market would like and wear.

My only thing really is that it makes me feel hot; not sexy hot, but hot hot. This summer has been insanely hot and looking at some of these pieces/looks, it all has a heaviness that makes me feel hot and anxious. Could just be the styling also.

Overall, not particularly bad.

Reports of his poor sales performance of the previous collections must've forced him to return so swiftly to his signature ladylike silhouette. Can't say I'm sad. I can literally see how he's thinking - 'let's make it ladylike with the ruffles and whatnot, but with urban, stark work wear colors.' May well save him yet because this actually looks decent and ones with a distinct statement. From start to finish.

So many looks yet so little action. I think the only outfits I actually stopped scrolling for was the green ruffle dress worn by Adut and the blazer dress that Bella Hadid wore. Otherwise too boring for my taste but I’m sure that some of these pieces would work individually for magazine editorials.

Now that I think about that...Are they even selling the runway thing in a substential amount?
MK collection really seems like what Couture was for brands for a longtime. Does it represent even 30% of his sales?

MK collection has good real estate in most high end department stores in NYC (Saks for sure, I believe Bergdorf, I don't think Barney's sells it). And I bet it's probably represented well throughout the country. And I hear it sells quite well. It's a staple brand for a certain affluent American customer. To give you an idea: Michelle Obama wore quite a bit of it (though she also wore Alaia, Toledo and now can be spotted in Balenciaga).

But, I would be surprised if it made up even 10% of their sales. I think they do an actual business with it, I just think the rest of their business is just that massive.

It's quite good, really well done and it has its own dedicated team and design director. However, over the years it went from being the core of the brand to just being the icing on top. It's becoming more and more like what Calvin Klein Collection was: a marketing expense sustained only for its halo effect.
