I hate the kind of designers that only cater for that St.Tropez, jetset lifestyle. I don't find these clothes to be particularly in tune with our times and today's needs, but maybe it's just me not being part of that community.

No, you're definitely right. I'm all for wearing dresses on a daily basis, but these are evening gowns, not day outfits. Times change, and not everyone is willing to don a floor length dress to do everyday activities.
