WHEN international model Miranda Kerr swapped the glamour of the Cannes Film Festival this week for the beauty of the South Australian outback, the Sunday Mail was there to greet her.
The Aussie supermodel jetted into Adelaide on Thursday and was all coy charm with our photographer Michael Marschall, jokingly covering her ring finger.
Just days ago, Kerr was schmoozing with her boyfriend, actor Orlando Bloom, and Hollywood stars including Penelope Cruz, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, aboard one of Cannes' famous yachts - reportedly flashing an impressive rock on her ring finger.
But the Victoria's Secret Angel was missing both rumoured fiance Bloom and the engagement ring when she strolled through Adelaide Airport on Thursday.
Kerr killed a few hours in Adelaide before heading to Lake Gairdner, northwest of Port Augusta, for a fashion shoot for the David Jones spring/summer catalogue.
Wearing a brown neat-peaked hat on arrival and carrying a bag of airport-bought reading material, Kerr looked ready for her adventure.
Kerr and her entourage are said to be staying at Mt Ive Station, a family-owned working sheep station, 200km from Port Augusta.
Accommodation on the property ranges from stone housing to on-site camping. A station spokeswoman was silent on the subject of Kerr, but she did confirm a film crew was staying on the property in the shearers' quarters.
The property is bordered to the north by Lake Gairdner, which is frequently used by film and photographic crews.
First though, Kerr wasted no time in making some important local stops.
She was first spotted shopping at King William Rd lingerie store Original Sin, much to the surprise of local shoppers, where she picked up some G-strings.
It was then on to Unley Rd and Malvern's Pat A Cake Bakery for the notoriously healthy-living model.
Sales assistant Jessica Gavros said she was more than a little surprised to see the model in her shop.
"She looked amazing, exactly how she looks in magazines and all that," Jessica said.
"She didn't end up buying anything, she just had a quick look around. I think she wanted to get something from the organic store next door, but they closed down."
Miranda and her team will spend more than a week shooting DJ's latest catalogue in the remote location
