Miranda Kerr

From the official Facebook page of XOXO, the new Fall 2009 Ad Campaign featuring Miranda:

It Is sweet. Miranda looks so supportive, like really mature. She's a really nice role model for girls, because she's one of the few famous models who havent become absolutely big headed or insane. Look at Naomi, Kate and Linda/

Though to be fair, Naomi, Kate, Linda - they're from a different era entirely and the circumstances were entirely different. Back then models really did have *star* power in a true, glam, hollywood sense - they were personalities and muses and had control over their names, and themselves as brands.

That's because the model then was in a position, and at the time the industry was at a point where models could exert such power.

Nowadays the models are still great (though arguably so), and of course there are fabulous standouts such as Miranda/Coco etc.. but they're definitely not allowed anywhere near the level of influence or pure personality that the older supermodels were allowed.

Anyway - just a roundabout way of saying, I guess i feel the older iconic models are somewhat justified in the way they act - they're a product of their times. And it's nice that the current models are more humble and nicer - they're also a product of their environment (diva-tactics don't go down well these days!)

These days they use the term topmodel and supermodel too soon! Every model who scored some covers or did a lot of runways are topmodels..

Linda, Kate, Eva are definitly SUPERmodels..the only model from this era who is the closest to call a supermodel is Gisele Bundchen&Heidi Klum. Those two have reached the star-status! Gisele in her work, is there anyone who's done more than her in the past years? No that's why she's #1 and Heidi well, not a big fan of her but careerwise she's a star.

Miranda is definitly a Topmodel!! But like ponytrot said: those other girls..that was in a different era.. you can't compare that! Miranda can become huge.. it just takes some time..

^ agree with you entirely Highmaintenance, :flower: and of course we can all agree Miranda is absolutely fab and at the top of her game. :woot:

I agree with both ponytrot & HM. Linda, Naomi, Kate etc. are SUPERmodels, these days only Gisele has that level of star power. I wouldn't describe Heidi Klum as one, though. She has got star power, but she hasn't had people like Karl Lagerfeld, Dolce & Gabbana, Armani, Louis Vuitton etc. falling at her feet, wanting her in their campaigns. The main things she has done are VS and SI. These days she is a TV presenter, not a model.

So much new Miranda stuff! Hope she keeps this up! The airbrushing in the XOXO ads are :innocent:, but otherwise she looks great!

^ you're right about Heidi tanii94.

And I think Miranda will keep up for now.. but hey it's the fashion industry..you'll never know!

I am probably going to recieve a lot of hate for this-but it has to be said.

Miranda is so beautiful, she has a really unique, exotic look and she seems like a lovely girl-but why are all her campaigns, photo shoots and editorials so so tacky????

With all that orange fake tan and big 90's hair for Victoria's secret she could be any old who ever with a nice body-her amazing features are completely diminished. The picture a few pages back in the push up bra and butterfly wings is utterly ridiculous.

The few pictures we saw of the Pirelli shoot was the first time I had seen her looking beautiful and tasteful in years....probably because she had no make up on and was being photographed by a highly credible team, but still....

I understand that money must play a big hand in this-but I would love to see her in some clothes that people actually want to wear, looking like herself- The recent Australian Grazia feature was a great example.

I understand your point. And in some ways, I agree with it. :)

I wish Miranda worked with more photographers that show-cased her true/natural beauty, But I guess for now, we have to see her all made up and photoshopped.

I agree, too. I really think that some of the work she's been doing doesn't seem like her at all. Maybe I'm wrong, cause I don't know her, but seeing her in candids she seems a lot different to how she's shown in most of her campaigns, tacky is the right word! But I guess she has to do some work, whether she likes it or not..

If you sign a multi-million dollar contract, you simply cannot change things like your hair whenever you want..
But that's a decision she made and she knew what the consequences where.. there are some good things about signing big contracts but if they really improve your work that's a 2nd one. In the beginning it is...but if you want to do something else, go crazy or go for a different look.. you simply can't cause your stuck with a contract..
