The F/W 2026.27 Show Schedules...
dailytelegraph.com.auWith Miranda Kerr's secret marriage to Orlando Bloom, the hunt is on for a new fashion ambassador for David Jones.
It's not just because a honeymooning Kerr will be absent from the department store chain's crucial August 3 spring/summer collection launch at a perilous time in its history - it has also been widely speculated that she's pregnant.
Next week's fashion launch was never going to be easy. For the first time in a long while, it has been moved back to the store itself, with the number of guests trimmed down and lots of the so-called A-list's noses out of joint as no invitation was forthcoming.
David Jones is still rocking from the aftershocks of the recent scandal that resulted in former CEO Mark McInnes resigning over a sexual harassment allegation.
Like many retailers, DJs has also experienced a tough season because of several factors, including rising interest rates, pre-election jitters, a late start to winter and a less-than-enthusiastic embrace of the sales period.
Retailers such as David Jones, need all the help they can get - especially in the form of one of the world's most beautiful models - to make all their clothes look scrumptious on the runway and get customers excited about the new season.
According to her closest circle of friends, Kerr is pregnant, which also makes her an unlikely chance to shoot the forthcoming autumn/winter catalogue or walk in next season's show.
Then there's the all-important launch of the spring racing season, which culminates in the much-publicised David Jones Caulfield Cup in Melbourne in October.
A pregnant Kerr with Bloom trackside would undoubtedly attract world-wide coverage.
DJs is playing down the issue. "Orlando Bloom has never made it to Caulfield," a David Jones spokesman said, "and we don't need Miranda to fill a marquee.
"What's more, we have a long-term contract with Miranda and she is fully committed to promoting the store."
With her Victoria's Secret commitments, Kerr isn't going to stop striding the runway any time soon.
But the David Jones contract is a little more rigorous, especially as it involves long trips back and forth to Australia, as well as the store catalogues shot on location.
So who will be the next big name to grace the runway, with both Kerr and Megan Gale now on the sidelines?
Finding an ambassador with Kerr's credentials is a tough ask. Not only is she beautiful and well connected, she's squeaky clean.
Insiders reckon a coup for David Jones would be to relaunch actress/model Gemma Ward or exclusively sign beautiful Aboriginal model Samantha Harris and maybe Jess Hart, who was recently nabbed by Myer but may be persuaded to defect.
Among the names being tossed around are David Jones's guest ambassadors for the spring/summer season, including Abbey Lee Kershaw, Nicole Trunfio, Catherine McNeil (an unlikely choice because of her tattoos and her dramatic love life - she recently split from girlfriend Ruby Rose) and Alexandra Agoston.
I agree she would be hard to replace. She will be hard to replace, but I think it's a bit early to start doing so.
There's no official word she's preggers (then again maybe they know something we don't) and even if she is it doesn't mean she'll never work again. Plenty of models have bounced back. Giselle only took, what, two months to get back into shape?
But I guess DJ's is looking for someone to take Miranda's duty while she's pregnant - and that's if she's pregnant. She still has long-term contracts with DJ's and VS that she can't easily escape. I can imagine her getting back into shape after pregnancy and coming back better then ever. And we'll get to see a mini Miranda/orlando so it's a win-win situation.

Incredible.Hmm.. Maybe they'll get Elyse?
And so it begins...
