Mo Wandan

^she looks like a very happy thai ladyboy in that ed  thank god she moved on to better things..

video - a dissertation

aired last year on a Beijing station. 27 minutes long.

3 topics on her beginnings as a new model:

trial & error as a newbie
after finally getting the opportunity for a go-see, Mo shocks clients by her appearance. she did not know how to apply make-up. showed up with giant blackened brows and fervent red lips, frightening the sophisticated sensabilities of Chinese agents and clients. her manager Li Xin (the other interviewee) has to teach her the do's & dont's of social conventions from makeup application to speech to dressing up.

discovering her femininininity
Unacclimated to the cold weather of Beijing, Mo keeps warm for go-sees with layers of parkas. this practical energy-saving method is a violation of good-taste since clients want to see her figure instead of the heaps of cloth she's wrapped in. so manager chides her, takes off the parkas only to discover another heinous atrocity: she's wearing sweats!!!
"jeesus christ this is an interview, not a sporting event!!"
"what?! what should i wear...am i different from everyone else :-("
"you should wear something a bit more feminine"
"but i'm 17, i can't be a woman!"

*scenes of her succeeding following the advice of her agent*

yet another problem surfaced - she got the looks part down, except now she doesn't know how to act feminine. this is worrisome for photoshoots. her training as an athlete roughened her mannerisms and corrupted her mind. they try to amend this.
"just...pretend you're a super sexy woman! like...Madonna...Monroe..."
Mo's eyes closed for a good 10 minutes to soak this in, trying to find her feminine side, before jumping up rejoicing, "i got it!" She then tore off her shirt past her shoulders, "is this right?"

*after management's arduous training and molding, Mo corrected her postures softened her expressions and found her femininity*

memorizing Japanese speech, Commie style.
Mo was invited to work in Japan in 2005 as a spokesperson for a local brand. her agency prepared her a long speech in Japanese to recite on the day of the media event. this came in 3 days prior. Mo was like "uh what, i can't even speak Mandarin Chinese properly, can't pronounce my own name right, now you want me to master Japanese WTF homey".
but once on the podium, her wit & poise resurged and words came out of her mouth like series of uzi bullets pulverizing the Japanese media with her phonetic fluency, impressing them with at least the appearance of knowing what she was saying.
(this segment's purpose was to show that she's a quick learner)

the end.

:rofl::rofl::hardhead:

^^^hey that was a very literal translation of the program based on hard evidenced FACT. the agent really did say 'words came out of her mouth like bullets' lol! alright maybe not uzi bullets and they werent really pulverized but my translation is actually 90% correct.

after watching the show though, i must say the state of Chinese agencies as it stands now is in dire need of help. seriously, it's as if they dont get the concept of "individuality". i'd like Mo MUCH more if she did show up to castings in sweatpants, wears a fannypack over layers of parkas and does her makeup as if she's participating in kabuki theatre.... SO WHAT it's her STYLE.
ugh this industry can really destroy a person.
