I know see why she didn't go abroad, at this time China is the new New York, Paris or Milan. :-) Models in NY, Paris, Milan don't all get paid money for shows, half get paid, the other half work for free publicity or get clothes and high heels in lieu of payment.
The Chinese economy has recently broken all international equities market capitalization, China ICBC is the largest bank in the world period, followed only by Citigroup. Major chinese companies are ranking #1 in their field globally, against big name western companies. So going back to Mo wandan, with China so financially strong, and with so much financially lucrative jobs she has no reason to leave China.
But if she left china and modeled for Marc Jacobs, and was paid in clothes, high heels, and scarves it wouldn't be worth her time. You see 70% of "LUXURY" goods, i.e., Gucci, Prada, Burberry, Armani, Dunhill, Ferragamo and lots more are partly assembled in China. These are the genuine handbags, leather coats, high heels and not the fake sh*t. Just read Dana Thomas's book Deluxe: How Luxury Lost Its Luster. The Chinese girl would have to fly from China to do a fashion show, get paid with clothes, and shoes that were partially made in China. Whereas, in China she is considered a queen who commands top Yuan, and uses her pay to buy real estates, a BMW car, and putting the rest in a Swiss or Caribbean secret bank account.
