Will Montana Cox walk at New York Fashion Week?

The Australian model is heading to the fashion capital for castings.

Autumn/winter ‘14/’15 fashion month begins in less than a week and the first stop, as always, is New York. While designers, editors and buyers have been planning schedules, booking re-sees and diarising dinners, most models still don’t know if or who they’ll be walking for.

Castings are sometimes finalised mere hours before the front row arrives.

One Aussie model having a shot at New York Fashion Week is Montana Cox.

“I go back there on Friday morning,” she told us ahead of the David Jones autumn/winter ’14 fashion launch on Wednesday.

“I’ve just got to go straight over there and start casting.”

If all goes well in the Big Apple, she’ll be testing the water in Europe too.

“I think we’ll see how New York goes and if it’s successful then I’ll go off to London, Milan and Paris. It’s a big six weeks to come,” she said.

Fashion week is not unfamiliar territory for the Melburnian. In seasons past, she has walked for Chanel, Lanvin, Tom Ford, Christian Dior, Kenzo and Pucci – but she still has more to tick off her wish list.

“I think the Paris shows are probably the most amazing. I love Balmain, Balenciaga. It’s always good to try and set your eyes on that.”

Even though she wants to conquer the runways of Paris, she’s in a very New York state of mind.

“I love to visit Paris but New York has just got everything going for it.”

She divides her time between there and Sydney – “it’s good to go back and forth.”

And while she’s stateside, don’t be surprised if you catch her doing some retail therapy.

“I love Opening Ceremony in New York. I always go in there and spend way too much money. And Bergdorfs. Barneys, I walk into the shoe section and my head explodes! Sometimes I have to walk out and take a breather cause there’s just too much – I’m like ‘I want that, I want that, I want that’. But it’s amazing shopping over there.”

Something tells us she won’t have much spare time to spend in Barneys on this trip.

I hope she goes well but haven't her most successful season been when she skipped New York and went straight to Milan? I'm not sure why but she doesn't book well at NYFW. I don't know if they should use NY to test the waters for the success of her season.
Then again I don't know much about this.
