Myf Shepherd

She's Back!!!
Last night was the Chanel Cruise 10/11 collection presentation at Doltone House in Pyrmont. As an almost all outside venue, the fashion crowd was a bit worried by the looming clouds. Entitled ‘St Tropez’, Chanel Australia had the arduous task of re-creating the original show some months ago, actually in St Tropez. The set up was a very cute CHANEL emblazoned canopy with bench seats flanking the perimeter. Martini’s and champagne were free flowing, as were the oysters and quail egg canapés. As the rain drops started to fall, the models began their walk, but not before a three piece band could introduce them.
Even though we had seen the collection before on style.com, it was great to see the clothes up close and personal. Back on the runway was Myf Sheppard, after an extended absence – and can we say, looking better than ever! Also looking fantastic was ANTM winner Amanda Ware. She looked absolutely stunning, and a clear standout. I must also give special mention to the ladies standing behind me. Every single item that sashayed down the runway was “absolutely DI-VIIIIINNEEE”. And yes it was. The 70s inspired looks had us all wishing for a little sojourn to St Tropez.

MODEL Myf Shepherd is returning to the catwalk after an 18 month break. The Sydney model took herself out of the gruelling industry last year, despite being touted as the next big thing on the international circuit.

"I was too young when I started," Shepherd, 19, tells us. "I wasn't really ready for how competitive and everything the real world is, so I just needed to take some time to be a regular teenager. Modelling can be really stressful. You have to look after yourself."
Shepherd was earmarked as one of our most hopeful modelling prospects after appearing in 62 international shows in the year after making her catwalk debut in 2008. Internationally she walked for Chanel, Gucci and Christian Dior on the Paris and Milan runways.

And locally she was the cover girl for the 2009 Fashion Week official magazine, commanding as much as $2000 a show. But she needed time off.

Shepherd is now ready to live up to the earlier hype. She recently shot a campaign for Bianca Spender and will appear in the February issue of Vogue Australia. And last week, she shot a campaign for Myer.

The February 2011 edition of Vogue Australia doesn’t just offer up Catherine McNeil’s fifth cover of the magazine. It also represents the return of Myf Shepherd to modelling after a year hiatus to study set design in Sydney. McNeil’s Chic Management stablemate rocketed to international modelling stardom after her debut at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week in May 2008, walking the runways of some of the world's biggest fashion names and booking campaigns including Gucci and Miu Miu, only to put her burgeoning career on ice this time last year. Chic Management reports that the Vogue shoot was Shepherd’s first job back at work. She appears in six images in the massive 30-page New Season Hit List story that was shot by Nicole Bentley and also stars Codie Young, Alice Burdeu, Samantha Harris, Ruby Jean Wilson and Annaleise Smith. Chic reports that Shepherd has also shot a campaign for Myer [possibly the autumn/winter 2011 campaign] in addition to two other local campaigns. “Myf’s back modelling” Chic Management director Kathy Ward told frockwriter. “She’s continuing on with her studies but she’s very excited to be based in Sydney now and modelling for top end magazines and securing some major Australian campaigns as well. She may go back for the [Haute Couture SS11 or FW1112] shows, although there are no plans at this stage. But things happen very quickly, there’s a slight chance she may”.
