thanks for posting these, mirrra! the first shot is especially beautiful, i like how he manages to capture a very dark and sinister vibe (it's funny because i think the ophelia images are actually standing for a lot of his work ... it always makes me think of water lilies) while having a very clean and refined style....

Nadav Kander (photographer)

Nadav Kander was born in Israel in 1961, grew up in South Africa and now resides in London. He has established a respected reputation as both a commercial photographer and as an art photographer. Dark and cold work on his site (which is a little hard to use, but it’s slick and his highly creative and diverse work is great).

I've heard his name somewhere...

Right now, when I'm trying to stay in a happy mood, those photographs don't do that much for me. But I do know, that in a worse mood I would find these absolutely beautiful. They have a certain feeling, but I don't want to think that right now.

I find his Chernobyl, Half Life series absolutely chilling—as one would expect.

Reactor No.4 at Chernobyl's Nuclear Power Station exploded in 1986 leaving the surrounding area uninhabitable for many hundreds of years. I visited Chernobyl to mark its 20th anniversary, photographing the deserted spaces in what was once a model Soviet City.

Home to more than 40,000 people, the apartments, schools and hospitals that were hastily left following the controversial evacuation are stark reminders of past lives, leaving a disturbing sense of quite. An uneasiness that I had never previously experienced.
