Natural wonders MENS F/W 08.09

little bit of description from the Review by Tim Blanks on the Raf Simons' collection

The ... intense shade was incorporated into another jacket that toned upward from ashen gray hem to fiery shoulder (the buttons changing color, too), like a phoenix from the flames. An ingenious sartorial metaphor for reinvention ("or eternal damnation," joked Simons’ right-hand man Robbie Snelders).

a sweater that looked like a Mark Rothko painting (well, there’s a state of mind right there). The shoes, on the other hand, anchored the models to the ground in the earthiest way. As thick-soled as a creeper, they came croc-stamped or webbed and ready to kick out the jams. "You’re only young once," they said. Sad, but true.

Sounds highly conceptual

I'm sorry, im skipping this, it's gonna give me a seizure.

The Raf Simons take is amazing anyone know how that has been done ?
My guess is they might not do it really by hand
It's too labour-intensive ... Will make the product more expensive
So I think it's a "transfer print", which is common in the industry

It's like printing out pictures from your computer on paper and then ironing it onto the fabric...and then you throw the paper away. You can get a lot of fine fast detail this way

could be ombré, could be fog
What makes this a little different is, in the second picture you can see the dye is going up only at the centre... or maybe even to the side... not a smooth transition, looks more like smoke (or maybe I'm just being over-analytical XD )

This all looks like linear tie-dye in neutral tones. Damn hippies.

I like the Wintle gradients up there, but the ones in the front page are a bit too outrageous for me to wear

I don't like those looks, I think printed clothes are kinda tacky. But It's ok! :-)
