I couldn't agree more.
And where's the guitar? A lot of the great guitar solos/sounds date back to the 70's/late 60's.

Good article.
Clearly, the guy who they talk to is an idiot. He talks about lyricists and doesn't mention Bob Dylan once. But just ignore him...
PrinceOfCats said:Agreed. Frankly, all of Coldplay's albums should be censored and each track replaced with Desolation Row.
And I'm not even a Young Fogey...

Let's have some Marvin Gaye, Chuck, the Stones, The Band, The Eagles, The Doors, The Grateful Dead, Neil Young, anything with a backbeat will do.
Fade to Black said:MARVIN GAYE...all the R&B out right now has nothing on Maaaaarvin...there's a reason why it's dubbed "Rappin & Bullsh*t," and is no longer referred to as 'soul' like it was in the past (NO, I do not believe that neo-soul counts, that stuff is bland to me).
Soul music was the knock...and it's killing me I can't find the mix I made of soul classics a while back. Give me some "Natural High," "Let's Stay Together," "Pillow Talk," and y'all can have everything else.

FtB, Marquee Moon is one of my desert island albums... Television was part of the birth of the 70's NY punk scene, but that record transcends that time...
rollagasper said:Yeah, i say old rock. I have recently fallen in love with the stones. Most bands today are too... safe, is that the right word?quote]
Safe is the right word. Ive noticed that bands havent been doing the 7minute 9minute songs for a long time now. All of your classic artists, The Doors, Led Zep, Small Faces, Jethro Tull, Black Sabbath had these mammoth songs. Todays songs seem to last for a little over 3minutes. You dont get your Jimmy Page guitar solos or John Bonham drum solo songs anymore either.
I am seeing an emergence in ya classic rock bands like Wolfmother, Wolf & Cub. Wolfmother has the classic of classic rock tunes and uses a lot of keyboard/organ. Wolf & Cub have two drummers with 2 drum kits which really brings that raw quality back.
That is totally untrue. There are some great lyricists right now too. Rock and roll right now may be no where as exciting as in the 60s to 70s, but i think it's made a comeback in a way... I mean, i can't think of anything good that came out of the late 90s, but now we have some bands with potential...faust said:All this new rock is complete horsesh*t. Just READ the lyrics. Faithfulpink said:The Stones are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO overrated. So they had like 3 hit singles BIG DEAL. They are in the same realm as Kiss. Apparently having a crazy singer and getting lucky with a legendary song makes you one of the best ever. What OTHER songs do they have? The albums themselves LACK.
