She does look a bit like Sharin Foo. I'll have to check that band out.

Thanks for the new photos guys! :woot:

What is she holding up on those sticks?? One kind of looks like a gnome or jester.

Beautifull photos!
I do agree about Sharin Foo having a good ressemblance to Nico. A lot better than Miss Ostrom. I did not know about her either. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for doing that odelay! I don't know what she is holding on the sticks. At first i thought they were cheetos but then i thought that wouldn't make sence. I think they are little gnomes.

Wow, i never knew her thread was so long!

I just listened to Chelsea Girls a week ago for the first time, and i'm in love with it!

I do agree: It is a long and really good thread. When I discovered it, I took hours to read it all. So many photos were posted that I cannot remember which to post in case there are already in this forum.

Oh well, here, i am taking a chance:

I always wonder if there are any photos of Nico when she was pregnant. I have never seen one.

I found this in a book called "40 Years of classic Rock Journalism, The Sound and the Fury, A Rock's Backpages Reader" edited by Barney Hoskyns. It's from an interview in the book done by Mary Harron called "Pop Art/Art Pop: the Andy Warhol Connection" it was in Melody Maker on February 16th 1980.

This is just the part where they talk about Nico...

I asked Warhol about Nico.
'Nico is really fat now. She's in town. Have you interviewed her?'
Do you think she ever cared about being famous?
'Well, Nico had like eight careers going for her, and every time they happened she changed. She was a French movie star, and as soon as she became almost successful at that she left and came with the Velvets. And then as soon as she was singing the right kind of songs and she was getting more work, she'd buy an organ and do chanting. Every time it's almost successful, she changes her whole style. I don't know why she does that.'

I often wondered about her "changes" of career paths. I guess she was still trying to find herself somehow which I think she did with all her solo records especially those she did with John Cale. I never owed it but I often heard the "The Marble Index" is a good (if not unconventional) album.

here's something about Nico in the book"Linda McCartney,A Portrait"by :DDanny Fields[who always has much love&praise for Nico]
Morrissey was,to his infinite credit,Nico's main protector[actually her manager, but that's too impersonal a definition of their relationship]when it came to dealing with the real world. In September 1968,he had just arrived in London with Warhol when Paul McCartney called him at his hotel and said,to Morrissey's astonishment,"Hello,it's Paul.Listen,I have a favor to ask of you.Could you come over to my house?"
"I didn't know what he wanted, until he said it was about Nico.I knew she was in London, but not until that moment did I have any idea that she was staying at Paul McCartney's house."Morrissey remembers."So,I went over there, and he showed me the house, and then he said "You know,I have Nico here,I invited her to stay here about two weeks ago;she had no money and I just thought it was for a few days, and she had nowhere else to go.I like her and she's very nice but I have to ask her to leave and I don't know how to do this, and I thought that since you're here, and you're her manager, maybe you could do that."
Although not in love with her,Paul seems to have been slightly scared of Nico, like all the other young men in her life.Let's say"shy with"rather than "scared of"
-I'll continue.....

continued-
Linda and Paul and I were once looking at her photograph of Nico and me[my favorite photograph of me,by the way taken in London in the early 1970's],and Paul commented,"It's just beautiful,it nails you there at the period ."
"That's the magic of photography,"I said."Guys were so afraid of Nico, you know."Replied Paul,"I wasn't afraid of her at all."
Morrissey recalls,
Paul was very polite ,and I said,"Oh yeah, sure,"because I knew Nico could be something of a burden, and then he told me that a journalist was coming over from New York to interview him and he didn't have any extra bedrooms. So I asked him who the journalist was, because maybe I knew who it was,and he answered,"Oh,do you know Linda Eastman?"and I said that I knew her very well and "Yes,she's great."I was supposed to understand that Linda was coming to do some in-depth story and needed to be there for a few days .And it made it sense to me that he was giving this girl a place to stay ,like he did with Nico, and I just thought it was a nice thing for him to do.I knew that there was nothing romantic between him and Nico ,or she would have told me before this,or would have made some reference to it.She would have called me from anywhere in the world if that had been what was happening.
--THE END-- :flower:
I just found this interesting because you really don't hear much about The Beatles hangin' around all the "trouble"girls!!!Also,it mentions again how boys or men were sooo scared of Nico but taken by her beauty.
-She really was an original:heart:

Are they talking about a picture of Nico and Danny Fields or Nico and Paul Morrisey? I don't think i've seen either so if it's in the book do you think you could post it?

Man i'd love to see that photo! I've never seen a picture of Nico with Danny and they were pretty good friends. I wish there were pictures of her with a lot of people actually.

It must be hard for Alain Delon to continue denying Ari as his son. The ressemblance is striking!

No,it's not in the book but the photo is Danny Fields and Nico.

Thank you Little Tiny for the book excerpt. Danny Fields has met a lot of interesting people. I also wish we could see this photo.
