Nicole Kidman Welcomes Daughter Sunday Rose

Nicole Kidman and her country superstar husband, Keith Urban, welcomed a daughter on Monday morning in Nashville, Tenn.
“Husband Keith was by Nicole’s side, and mother and baby are very well,” spokesman Paul Freundlich told People.
This is the first child together for Nicole, 41, and Keith, 40. Nic has two other children with her ex-husband Tom Cruise: Isabella, 15, and Connor, 13.

UPDATE: Nicole and Keith named their daughter, Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban! She weighed in at 6 lbs, 7 oz.

the only reason i dont like sunday is because it reminds me of sundae.. and i can only imagine what kids will say. but rose as a middle name makes it very pretty. i am so happy for them...

i had to come and post this. my mum just rang me..she was at the supermarket and she heard the girls at the checkout talking about nicole's new baby (aussies seem to love gossiping about 'our nicole'. ) anyway the girls were saying "oh can't you just see it now...the name sounds like sunday roast!. i dont know about america but here in australia all the kids are going to be calling the poor child sunday roast! how could they do that to the poor darlin'?".... now that i think about it...it is a very small leap from sunday rose to sunday roast... is this only an australian thing?

Why Nicole & Keith Chose the Name Sunday Rose

In the grand tradition of Tuesday Weld and Wednesday Addams, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban decided to go with a day of the week name for their bouncing baby girl, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, who made her debut on Monday.

Now, Sunday's proud grandpa has revealed the inspiration behind her unusual moniker.
Nicole's dad, Dr. Antony Kidman, tells Australia's Daily Telegraph the appellation was inspired by the muse of famed Down Under artist Sidney Nolan.

"There was a lady named Sunday Reed who was a prominent patron of the arts in Victoria," explains Dr. Kidman. "I have read a bit about Sunday Reed and her husband John -- she was a key mover and shaker in the arts around the beginning of the century. The name Sunday struck me as being a nice name for a woman, so my wife and I mentioned it."

In early January, just before the Oscar winner confirmed she was expecting, she and Urban were snapped exiting a retrospective of Nolan's work at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.

According to the paper, Nicole was quite taken with a Nolan quote written across a wall of the exhibit, which Keith wrote down: "When you are young you are given a good view of life, because of your closeness to birth."

Adds her dad, "It was among other names being mentioned but they decided that was the name they wanted."

As for the tot's middle name, that was in honor of the country crooner's late grandmother Rose, says his brother, Shane.

"It's a wonderful, wonderful thing," Shane gushed to an Australian radio station. "I'm so, so proud."

Kidman, who is already mom to Bella, 15, and Connor, 13, with ex-husband Tom Cruise, and Urban are reportedly planning to release a picture of Sunday Rose to the media in the near future.
The paper says they have "turned down all lucrative media deals," just as they did when they were married in Sydney in 2006, opting instead to release a single photo with the suggestion that those using it donate to the Sydney Children's Hospital.
