Nine Inch Nails

Omg..I love NIN!!!!! I just got introduced to them last year (or should I saw "him" cuz its all Trent) when my cousin gave me Pretty Hate Machine and I just fell in love!!! I am obsessed now. I think Trent is a freakin genius and has the most beautiful and sexiest voice ever!!!! I got With Teeth but i dont have the fragile or the downward spiral yet..im gonna go get them today if i can find them. i've heard some songs from the downward spiral and they were just brilliant!!! i can totally relate to some of his lyrics and he just puts so much passion into it. actually, when i first listened to with teeth, i thot all the songs were good...like all the love in the world, the hand that feeds, every day, sunspots, etc. but now when i think of it im a lil disappointed because it just didnt have that edge to it that trent usually has, ya kno?? and the lyrics weren't as good.. i cant compare it with the fragile or tds completely yet since i havent heard the whole albums. its ironic tho because the critics slammed the fragile but the fans seem to love that album the most..ill just have to wait and see of what i think because i stilll have to get his other cds!!!! i cant wait!!!!! but neway, i am very happy for trent that hes recovered and all!!

definitely get them both - with teeth doesn't hold a candle to either one. also buy an album called broken - it's fantastic, Trent at his edgiest.

actually critics gave the fragile excellent reviews. what you are reading in the interviews now is reversing their position after the album bombed in stores (if you consider going platinum in the US alone as a "bomb", of course - which i personally don't). so much for "the critics"

I think Trent Reznor is the most talented musician in the world..

I have to agree with this. I can't even explain what he makes me feel with his music. And the show in Barcelona was amazing, I have no words for such an intense experience.

I can't wait until next year when they come back.

I would write 2000 lines about it but my english sucks, so..

i didnt kno it got excellent reviews at first....but who really gives a crap about what they think ..neways, i got the downward spiral yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i havent heard like all the songs yet..meaning like the whole song i've only listened to bits and pieces so far because i havent had time and i really wanna just sit down and listen to the cd in order and just absorb it but i am really impressed!!!!! since i only have three of his cds, i definitely think that this is the best one outta with teeth and pretty hate machine..with teeth is nowhere near to the downward spiral. i just really love trent's edginess, and his lyrics are freakin amazing!!!!!!!! i just admire him so much...hes just so damn talented. neways, so far i really like mr. self destruct, piggy, closer, and hurt...so are the ones i've really listened to so far like the most but i still have to hear the others. i love how the album is so dark and mysterious along with trent's vocals..and its aggressive and passionate, just the way i like it. next im gonna buy the fragile, and my cousin has broken so im gonna borrow that from him as soon as i can.

omg u've seen him live?!?!?!?! how is he??? i've never seen them live...i really want to go to one of their concerts but like all of them were sold out..o well i'll have to see. i also think trent is one of the most talented musicians in the world

I know I his concert this spring sold out in 6 minutes... :(

I have always wondered how he would manage to make a show since a lot of the songs have industrial and/or synthesized parts.

I've seen NIN live twice. It's one of the most amazing and dynamic concerts I've been to, and I've been to some heavyhitters.

There are still very crappy single tickets available for the fall US/Canada tour. I would've went the third time, but it's in Madison Square Garden again. It's no big fun sitting in your sit at a NIN concert. I want to MOSH!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

As far as how it sounds - pretty damn amazing. I'm sure some synthesized parts are pre-recorded, but there is also a guy on a keyboard, and sometimes Trent plays the keyboard as well. So on some songs there are two keyboard players, which works.

Mya, I'd advise you to pick up the live concert DVD- it's excellent.

P.S. I think I might shoot for some tickets for the philly concert...

absolutely right :flower:

love, love, love, love, love trent...

with teeth isn't his best work, but i still like it alot...some of the songs are amazing...

and i agree with softie...he said on his last tour he was drunk/high every single show  i'm glad that he's doing better and is making music on his own terms...i love all his stuff, the bitter and dark and this newer stuff.

saw them a few months ago with dresden dolls, going again 9/30 w/queens of the stone age :buzz:
and faust is right, sometimes trent plays keyboards and he also plays guitar...

i've seen them live many times, including lollapalooza, woodstock 94...the tour with a perfect circle was amazing as was the one with david bowie...alot of people left after trent though...i was like wtf?!

Woo hoo I picked up a ticket for his last show here this fall with queens of the stoneage. Going to be awesome! :)

I have a question...and sorry if it's kinda stupid, but like i was reading reviews of the downward spiral..like reviews from fans and some of them were saying that hurt is an awesome song, but u should also listen to johnny cash's version..now im wondering which one came first..because if my memory's good, then i remember that johnny cash did have a song named hurt that came out before he died..so like around 2003 or something..but im just curious because if someone like johnny cash is modeling after trent's song, then that really shows what a talented musician trent is...neways im really like addicted to the downward spiral now!!! i bought other cds but right now i could care less

NIN (trent) came up with hurt on downward spiral.

What I heard is Cash liked it so much he did his own take (which really lifted Trents spirits). I think Trent then contacted Cash's manager before he made With Teeth to ask him how he should go about making the new disc without almost killing himself.

Downward spiral rocks :)

My faves from that album are mostly the instrumentals (Trent's got a good ear for melody, especially when he's on the piano), but if I had to pick actual songs:

The Day The World Went Away
We're In This Together
The Frail
The Fragile
Just Like You Imagined
La Mer
Into The Void
Complication
