Yes, she and Liya were both married mothers when they started modeling, and I believe that both were 24.


ETA: Oh, and even though it's not really old, Carolyn Murphy didn't start modeling until she was 19.

Yeah, nowadays it's not out of the ordinary to see 13, 14 and 15 year old girls starting out and even breaking into high fashion and the mainstream (Gerron Taylor, Tanya D, Alyssa Miller). So it's pretty rare for someone over the age of 20 to break out. It may seem funny to call 24 year olds "older", but they're 10 years older than some of their counterparts!

And it's way cool to hear about Yasmin and Liya. They're both amazing.

liya was in a teen vogue ed when she was 19, she started modelling in boston i think and married her husband there and they both moved to new york she was preganant with her first child when she did the gucci show and that is when she hit it big but before that she was adding up some pretty impressive shows but not getting the type of expsure that tom gave her, but age is always skewed in the modelling industry, somewhere you will red that someone is 18 and somewhere else they are 24, so you never know...

^ I think this thread is focusing on more high fashion girls. There are plenty of models who are in their late-20s, 30s and 40s who are "lifestyle" models. They model for avertistments, catalogues and commercial magazine editorials.

It's not unusual to see older women modeling (just pick up a copy of Family Circle, Woman's Day, any catalogue aimed at adults), but it is unusual to see girls outside of their teens modeling high fashion!

Elise Crombez started when she was 19 and is now 24. Anouck Lepere started when she was 18 and will be 25 in February. Daria Werbowy started when she 18 and is now 23. Of course there are more "older" models over the age of 20, but a lot of them started when they were young and are now icons (Isabeli, Gisele, Natalia).

actually daria started when she was 14, but she kept it as a part-time job until she finished school. good choice, good family.

I know Eniko Maihalik, I actually don't think I have heard of the others maybe Saskia. What age did Eniko enter the industry?
