It seemed like almost every second designer (well not quite :D ) sent a one shoulder dress down the runway during the SS '06 shows, especially Marc Jacobs. He had one for every collection.
I was personally mortified to see they'd already come back, it's only been about 5 years since they were last "trendy". I'm trying to come to terms with it.
So I'm preparing myself for all the chain-stores to start doing them again. :yuk:
I have to admit I love the look when it's one nice flowy sleeve or one thin strap but if it's a tight wide strap I instantly think "tarzan" or wrestling or something like that.
Thoughts?
Here's just a few that I can remember but of course there's more.

Sorry, about the length of the posts, I don't know how to make the pics sit "alongside" each other.

Very cool trend (one of my personal favorites, reminds me of ancient Greece). I can't decide which I love more - the Lanvin or the second Marc Jacobs. That Balenciaga is exquisite!

Just post a picture, press your space bar and then post another picture. Like this:

You will see that when replying, the pictures appear to be underneath each other, but after you pressed reply and see the actual post, you will see that that is not the case and that the pics ended up alongside each other.

Thanks for the trendspotting! :flower:

Great thread *Tmsta*! :flower:

I remember a few seasons ago, this was like the biggest trend, grecian inspired. It's great to see it make a comeback though, very good trend spotting. I am not sure if I will buy into this trend though, I am still quite sick of it.....

^ Kimkhuu, I remember when this was huge, too. I never got into it, though, I don't know. Maybe it looked to bizarre to me, but it's really started to grow on me.

But I have something funny to say. EVERY man I've talked to regarding this has said that he doesn't like the one-shoulder thing. They say either go with two straps, or forgo with 'em alltogether. Now, they haven't been exactly what you call... fashion-forward, but I think a lot of every-day people find this trend to be kind of silly. I could be wrong, don't quote me! But that's what I remember from a few years back... actually, about 4 or 5 years ago.

^ yes.... ...when every girl in my city had those simple cotton body hugging one shoulder tops.... in colors like bright turquoise and fuschia...

I really, really disliked this the last time. But I like those dresses, much better than tops I think. I think a tight sleeve would be very unflattering.

yey, it's back!! I loved it the first time and I'll love it again

I'm not liking this too much.. I just keep thinking of a way to make up for the bare shoulder

I love most of this, it was really big in 2002 or 2003 if I remember correctly.

I'm not mad about it, but good trendspotting tmsta :flower: I do like the balenciaga, but yeah, the one shoulder thing just brings to mine the whole 'me tarzan, you jane' sort of thing. not my style.

Erin, I also tend to find that men don't like "gimmicky" clothes. However showing off the the collarbone, nape of the neck, and shoulders can be really sexy. It's my favorite body area to show off, and I don't like shoulderless tops and dresses - I had a bad experience at a party where I seem like I'm naked in all the photographs.

Ive tried an off the shoulder dress on before, and lets just say i almost had a wardrobe malfunction moment :innocent:

the lanvin was my favorite....
of all the looks posted and possibly of the entire collection....
