Talk about street savvy. Humberto Leon and Carol Lim put their Opening Ceremony show on full display Thursday morning, with models parading the four SoHo blocks in Manhattan from the brand’s office to store. It was all set to the strains of a live violin (Lorde’s “Royals”) and escorted by crossing guards holding “Models X-ing” signs.

The clothes were on-brand and functional yet with a more demonstrative dose of femininity than seasons past. Strips of raffia added a pretty decorative detail, used as a tuxedo stripe on a pair of pants and as an accent on a delicate netted skirt. Layered and mixed, prints played a key role. Leon and Lim said they imagined a futuristic tropical island, working an anemone floral on a tunic and pencil skirt, palm fronds on a slim bomber and cabana stripes in varying directions on tops, skirts and slim pants.

you had to expect that their own collection would get stronger now that they have the benefit of learning from the people at Kenzo...

seems like they've learned their lessons well and applied them very effectively...
and they are smart enough to make their own collection better than the kenzo collection as well...

menswear is definitely stronger than the womens...
