Organic / Vegan Cosmetics

Southern Magnolia Minerals

I'm still addicted to natural cosmetics so I've decided to update this thread with new suggestions for natural alternatives to mainstream cosmetics.

SO...

I no longer use Zuzu Luxe... I've switched to mineral makeup! At first I used Bare Minerals (i.d.) but the Bismuth Oxychloride (http://ezinearticles.com/?Mineral-Makeup-and-Bismuth-Oxychloride&id=68978) made me breakout and it made my skin too shiny. Now I use a brand called Southern Magnolia Minerals, which can be purchased via ebay. It's great because it contains no harmful chemicals or fillers.

A Southern Magnolia Minerals statement:

All of our mineral products are 100% NATURAL. Ingredients:
  • FOUNDATION: Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Iron Oxides, Kosher Grade Rice Powder.
  • EYESHADOW, BLUSH, BRONZER: Iron Oxides, Titanium Dioxide, and/or Mica.
  • CONCEALER/CORRECTORS: Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides.
  • RICE POWDERS: Kosher Grade Rice Powder, Zea Mays, Iron Oxides.
  • MINERAL VEIL: Zea Mays, Zinc Oxide.
  • PERFECTION POWDER: Sericite.
  • SHINE REDUCTION POWDER: Kosher Grade Rice Powder, Authentic Silk Powder.
Absolutely NO Preservatives, Fillers, Talc, Additives, Chemicals, Oils, Perfumes, Bismuth, Carmine, or Parabens. NOTHING BUT 100% PURE GOODNESS!

This mineral makeup can be applied wet or dry and offers great coverage! Although it is a different kind of coverage vs. the thick paste-like or paint-like consistency of mainstream cosmetics. Your skin can actually breathe with this makeup! ^_^ Plus, the prices are very affordable.

There's a similar thread ("Toxic ingredients in cosmetics") in Skin, Body and Haircare if you are interested :flower:

i highly recommend: The Organic Makeup Company
specifically for their skin-care line.

The Mineral Make-up thread is good too. There are a lot of brands similar to Southern Magnolia to try.

i use a vegan line called alchemy--they are absolutely wonderful...
they do soaps, shampoo and conditioner, body wash etc...

Organic makeup

LoveBug please remember to do a search prior to making a new thread :flower:

Vegan Products?

Can anyone recommend some vegan beauty products? Briefly browsed the Web, but didn't find much.

I may have dreamt seeing this yesterday, but I'm pretty sure I saw a vegan pallet by Urban Decay

^ You're correct, Urban Decay does have a Vegan Palette. UD sells many vegan cosmetic items:

Vegan *and* Cruelty Free Makeup (and some skincare) Companies
and/or companies that have clearly marked vegan sections/items

Acne.org regimen by Daniel Kern (http://www.danielkern.com/)
Beauty Without Cruelty (http://www.beautywithoutcruelty.com/)
Cocoon Apothecary (http://www.cocoonapothecary.com/)
Ecco Bella Cosmetics (http://www.eccobella.com/) - there are a few items with carmine listed on their Q&A page and 1 concealer with beeswax
EverydayMinerals (http://www.everydayminerals.com) - not all items are vegan, check ingredients
Fyrinnae Cosmetics (http://www.fyrinnae.com)
Gabriel Cosmetics and Zuzu Luxe Cosmetics (http://www.gabrielcosmeticsinc.com)
GeoGrafx Handcrafted Cruelty Free Cosmetics (http://www.geografx-cosmetics.com)
Lollibomb Beauty (http://www.welovelollibomb.com/)
Monave Minerals (http://www.monave.com/) - potted and liquid lip balms are not vegan
Sevi Cosmetics (www.sevicosmetics.com)
Urban Decay (http://www.urbandecay.com) - see Vegan section
Von Natur (http://www.vonnatur.com/)
Tarte's vegan cosmetic items:

From the above list, I'm familiar with Fyrinnae and Urban Decay. Both companies make fantastic eyeshadows.
Fyrinnae's eyeshadows are loose, and are best when used wet or with a primer (like their Pixie Epoxy). Fyrinnae also has the best pricing for such a "small" vegan cosmetics company. And most, if not all, of their products are available in samples (sample prices).

I believe ELF (eyeslipsface.com) is also vegan-friendly, and ridiculously cheap!

INIKA is vegan  Their mascara is really good if you like natural-looking lashes!

Vegan Facemasks

hey, do you use any good facemasks? that are rather vegan?

I like using ones by RIVAL DE LOOP, i believe it is German, but it is widely accessed it Europe if a country has a Rossman Store. They smell nicely and help your skin:smile: Im happy I discovered them bc my skin is soo prone to many ingredients and breakouts and irritates easily when not treated properly. And, they are really cheap.

Since Lush is vegan, I really enjoy Lush's fresh face masks. They're made with all natural ingredients and are preservative free, hence why they have an expiration date! :flower:

I use all sorts of make-up and skincare brands, but when it comes to pure oils I always buy organic, cold pressed and unrefined oils.

Kind of surprised that a search for organic/natural in this subforum didn't bring many results. I'm trying to switch to organic skincare but I'm a little lost. I can find a ton of brands with a google search, but there's very little I've ever heard of before  I have no idea what's good and what isn't. I'm especially interested in finding a good all-natural CC cream and a facial cleanser for sensitive combination skin. Anyone have any suggestions?

LoveLula.com and Naturisimo.com sell organic cosmetics with free worldwide shipping.
I've been recently trying out products from brands such as Pai Skincare, herbfarmacy (Mallow Beauty Balm is my favourite product), and so far I'm satisfied. They're suitable for sensitive skin, and the ingredients are certified organic.
As for a cleanser, Pai's Camellia & Rose Gentle Hydrating Cleanser is really great and even better if you'll use it with exfoliating muslin cloth.
