Oscar De La Renta F/W 2015.16 New York

I guess what I can say is bravo. It is a very ungrateful job to take over a legendary designer such as Oscar de la Renta and transition his aesthetic into contemporary waters, and I think Mr. Copping did it smoothly. Of course not all pieces felt equally interesting or fresh, but I saw some innovative use of lace, great fabric manipulation, the addition of zippers and shortened hems which put a new spin on the de la Renta signature. This was far from experimental, but I think it's a great start of a new design affair which will only bloom from here.

^^Exactly! It could use a little editing (the dress with the breast ruffles was unappealing to me), and it still lacks a little of the extravagance Oscar had (comprehensibly so, however), but for a first collection, it's phenomenal. It's very luxurious, and yet easy to wear. It's also very flattering - the cuts are just right. This already feels like a match made in heaven. I'll be watching this very closely.

Beautiful collection, I think the ODLR aesthetic has been upheld. I hope over time it won't be come like McQueen though, where we will be seeing this same collection over and over.

Its more youthful and at the same time something his old customers would like. Good job!

That collection was feminine, delicate and just beautiful. It's not the most innovative and groundbreaking one, but still it's quite solid and it'll sell really well. When I was watching live-streaming, I was quite surprised by that last look and I don't know what to think about that dress. And that gown on Josephine, it's very chic and seductive, actually that whole collection was seductive and sweet at the same time.
BTW look #27 is similar to Copping's dress with 3-D floral applique from f/w 10.11 collection at Nina Ricci, but this time it's more simple and refined.

My exact sentiments! He's successfully entered the brand, keeping with tradition and not giving us a foreign aesthetic.

Copping proves himself to be quite a talent. I love how he understands the house’s codes and transition them into a more modern aesthetic. This collection looks much like ODLR but he puts some of his elegant feminine touch. The evening looks are divine but I just love all the suiting pieces.

When has ODLR ever been innovative or groundbreaking?

I had to look at it a second time. At first glance I came up with simply... no. But looking at the HQ pics on Style.com gave me a clearer picture. Peter Copping had huge shoes to fill and for his debut I think he did a great job. Well done.

The dresses at the end are beautiful. Hoping to see one of them at the Academy Awards.

That's rather good :) I imagine how difficult it is to take the direction of the creative team after De la Renta. Some dresses are not so chic, but a majority is great.
