Oscar de la Renta Opens Studio to John Galliano

Seems kind of opportunistic to build up buzz for his fall show. :innocent: Gah I'm so cynical...

*ding ding ding* :innocent:

Well it's definitely a win-win situation for both of them: lots of buzz and hype for Oscar's show and the beginning of John's comeback. Either way, colour me interested.

It does seem sort of strange, there couldn't have been a safer and less controversial designer to be publicly forgiven by than Oscar de la Renta.. he'll be fully forgiven in no time.
..It's like Scarlett O'Hara being forgiven by Melanie Wilkes

I'm very happy about my favourite and beloved designer John Galliano comeback,
but I still cant understand the terms
is he going to make some pieces of his own,
or is he going to help to Oscar design some pieces?

It is strange because he always was the head of the teams he lead
in his own label and Dior label, but now
is a serveant of Oscar de la Renta?
or a special design guest?

I'm not surprised with this to be honest. ODLR and Anna Wintour are very tight, it was only a matter of time until she found the right opportunity to get Galliano back on everybody's radar. Galliano is her golden child after all.

Yesss, I'm celebrating!
But what's next LVMH will probably not rehire him to his namsake brand. Will he start a new fashion house? Or revive Ungaro, perhaps? That would be interesting.

I'm sure it's just my imagination running away with me, but I'm reading this as ODLR looking for a potential successor to his label, with John being the prime candidate, and this three-week stint as an "interview" to see if they'd be a good match. After all, he is at the age of retirement now, so I assume ODLR is very concerned with who'll continue his brand. And who better than a famed womenswear designer who's clearly not doing anything else at the present time?

The very same thing I was thinking.

it looks like we are all excited for galliano's return to the industry. oscar is getting big points for this in my book! i think the two could be a very impressive combo

Well now even Galliano himself has become a lot more commercial in terms of his clothes (since his last collection at Dior) I don't see how this will be a negative in any aspect, but hopefully his clientelle won't take things to critical not to want to wear what he designs under ODLR, IF...he's taking over his helm.
