Oxfam Online - worth a look

thanks for the link :flower:

i would be curious to see what they put up in terms of clothes..

i lived in london a couple years ago and had always heard/read that oxfam was a great source for thrifting etc. but every time i passed in front of the shop around covent garden it was closed

yeah, I've bought loads of really nice items from Oxfam over the years and got them at rock bottom prices. I have thought previously that if you visit an Oxfam in a wealthier area are you going to get better items? I don't know.

I've never been to the 1 in covent garden though.

I love supporting this charity, I really do.

Bet a fella gets this by the time the post goes off the first page ;)

It is a size too big for my b/f - I can't believe it  - Ted Baker Shirt

i didn't even know they had an online shop! i always go there for books...

I'd never heard of thethousandvillages before - I do like this piece of furniture but it is very expensive! ($145) - do all the profits go to charity, or is it just a percentage (in which case someone is making $$$!)

When I lived in London (which was until very recently) I found a guide to the best charity shops which had the best vintage and designer clothes. Well, I spent a whole day slogging my way around the whole tube network visiting all of these shops and was very disappointed. I dont think I bought a thing.

Hmm, that surprises me athough I guess it can be a little 'hit and miss'. I suppose that's why the on-line store is useful. Obviously it contains only a small percentage of the nationwide stock but I've already bought quite a bit.

There was a thing on BBC awhile ago about how the oxfams near Kensington had Versace & Vivienne Westwood gowns for under £60

yeah, the rich celebrities must take their castoffs somewhere I guess!

its a nonprofit organization :)

I suppose you have to be lucky to get there when those great things come in, because you can bet the first or the second person who finds the Westwood gown for £60 is going to get it.

There was the odd 'designer' thing, but I found it was all really hideous stuff. Whilst it's still very cheap compared to the RRP, I wouldnt spend £40 on a top I didnt like. Maybe when I'm rich I will!

Best places to go to Oxfam are Henley & Oxford....lots of designer cast offs. I got my first bike from the Reading branch.

My only problem with Oxfam is the CEOs of the company are wayyy overpaid :/
