Paco Rabanne S/S 2022 Monaco

It doesn't make much sense as a collection, it's the side of the late 60s I'd prefer to ignore...but I'm glad Marine Serre is not the only one who loves JPG's Vasarely prints...I do like the shiny dresses, they were mesmerizing under the sunlight.

This collection is intense visually, but I somehow like it. It's very optimistic, full of energy and free in a way. My only complaint is that Julien Dossena has been too literal with his inspirations and while this collection is not as costumey as his FW20, it's still something that should get toned down, especially with MAS involved in the process because she usually has no chill and with her loud styling it gets even worse.

I really like this collection. You can feel that he is really confident in his works. It's reference the 60s maybe a bit too literal but it's still have the same daring attitude of the decade. PC is the best house right now when it's come to metallic dresses. The prints is really create a visual impact on this collection.

MAS styling is still as questionable as usual. I don't get need for those hats and corsets. It's really make the collection look heavier. The last 4 looks are very Chloé by Natacha.

Why do I get the suspicion that Julien’s been advised by his handlers to dial it back to such literal, trendy commercial fodders where it was more conceptual before…??? The bucket hat/loud clashing prints/chunky jewelry on on what is essentially one very basic 60s-psychedelic look, just in a variety of tweaks.

The North African/ Arabian Bedouin silhouette of a kaftan-esque dress over slim pants is nice— especially the golden paillettes ones looking like Crusade armour. But they’re suspiciously scaled back to only a few, while the rest of the offering looks more Austin Power Carnaby Street than Medieval Crusade warrior. I’m missing the latter.

Not keen on the footwear but the vibrancy of his design--though it does come off too brazen at times, thanks to MAS' styling--would look smashing in editorials.
