Pamela Anderson: the new face of Vivienne Westwood?

Pamela Anderson has reportedly signed a deal to become the spring/summer 2009 face of Vivienne Westwood. Although not confirmed yet, Westwood said, “I can’t speak about it yet. But anything I would say would be completely positive.”

i would have rather seen her sign roisin murphy. makes me wonder about viv though. has the celeb obsession really seeped itself that deep that she would use somebody like her. it's not as if she's some sort of artist nor is she even any kind of style icon.

Pamela Anderson doesn't even suit the brand imo, she's cheap and Vivienne Westwood is not.

I don't like her nor could I picture her looking very good in the clothes, but I was so bemused by the idea that I looked through Viv's spring/summer '09 Red Line (not knowing which label might be chosen for Pam, if this rumor isn't another crazy... rumor)--it should not have been given so much consideration, but she would look best in this:

I can`t see Pam as face of anything but Playboy-clothing. I haven`t been very into Westwood, but my idea of her doesn`t fit in to this rumour.

Vivienne started as a designer for non-conformists...

Pamela Anderson has the same sort of appeal as she did for Viva Glam.

And the models in Vivienne Westwood ads are always off the mainline- you'll never see Giselle or even a Scarlett Johansen modeling her stuff. To me that's the point. She herself talks often about having a style which is your style, devoting yourself to it, despite what John Q. Public or what ever-changing fashion dictates.

I am hardly a fan of Pam, but she is consistant with her style. I am a great fan of Westwood however, and this seems logical enough to me...
