I knew of pania before she got huge and its so funny to hear how everyone refers to her now that she has hit the big time. She was a dorky, no frills, lanky, ordinarily looking girl next door (maybe thats her appeal). She shopped at op shops and rode horses and went to church. No one saw her as any kind of beauty yet she was really sweet and we all loved her. For me, it has really reinforced how dangerous the fashion industry can be for impressionable young girls. What they see in magazines is not real. Hair, make-up, clothing and good photography can really make anyone look wonderful. The same with nicole trunfio. I knew her before she hit the big time and apart from being unusually tall, did not stand out particularly.

I wish these girls all the best because the fashion world can be a crazy world and can be very daunting for these girls from small, isolated country towns. It is important though to remember that what is presented to us between the glossy pages of magazines is just an illusion. I know, because I have the real thing at home in my photo album. I also model and know that what evryone else see's of me in the editorials is definately not what I see every morning when i jump outta bed .

Fashion can be a strange creature and your liasons with it can be fleeting.

We saw Pania one afternoon when we were in New York. She was close to tears. She had been in a fashion expo for jeremy scott(S/S 2004) and her knees were all scraped up and bloody. We stopped to talk to her and she said she had messed them up at the show. It was some kind of sadist exihibit and she had to kneel on her knees with a leash around her neck for the entire show. Modeling? Glamorous,....I think not. Everyone pays their dues. She's doing very well now but I believe something like that would be hard to forget.

Yeah. I heard about that. Poor thing! Some of these guys are real creeps and can prey on the vulnerable. Id feel very nervous about allowing my daughter to enter that world. It can be wonderful but it can also be very dangerous.
