Last week I brought you word of The Asylum's marvelous mockbuster Almighty Thor that you may or may not have missed as it was on a day when there was a mad crush of movie news. Now The Asylum has posted the first pics from the set, and it's quite apparent we are in for something truly special one way or another.
Filming of Almighty Thor has begun in Los Angeles under the direction of Chris Ray (Mega Shark vs. Crocosaurus) from a script by Mega Piranha writer-director Eric Forsberg.
These set pics give us our first look at newcomer Cody Deal as Thor, Richard Grieco as the villainous Norse god Loki, sexy Patricia Velasquez as a demigoddess named Jarnsaxa who trains Thor for his fight with Loki, and, of course, wrestler turned actor Kevin Nash as Odin, the supreme King of Valhalla. The last image of what appears to be Thor and Loki on earth, Thor attired in his finest Matrix trenchcoat and Loki looking like a Masters of the Universe villain fresh out of the Betty Ford Clinic, both standing in front of a junked pick-up truck, somehow excites me than anything I saw in the trailer for Marvel's megabudget Thor.
Almighty Thor is set to premiere on DVD April 26th, 2011, about a week before Marvel's Thor hammers every movie screen in America.
