Patti Smith

On her upcoming Camera Solo exhibition (link).

I love how she describes things.. could hear her talking all day.

Yeah... me too. I still need to read The Coral Sea... it's only been released as a hardcover/photo book and it's finally coming out in paperback form in my country (much more budget friendly--yay!), with a pretty Robert Mapplethorpe photo on the cover.

#256 I love this picture with Robert!!! is awesome :woot: . They were perfect!

agreed Mullet! of course i expect nothing less from the poetess.

btw,if none of you have read it,i would so recommend getting the recent re-release of her wondrous 'woolgathering'. i got it over christmas and it reminds me of my own childhood. it speaks like a magical fairy-tale but is true.

^ there seems to be a page missing...

it's funny, the facts in that article don't match up to 'just kids', like how she met robert mapplethorpe... hmm...

So guys, Banga is coming out in just a few days (June 5)! I pre-ordered the deluxe cd-book, I'm so excited to receive it. Master & Margarita is one of my favourite books so just the title alone gives me high hopes. :p
I read a review on BBC music a few days ago and it lifted Banga as Patti's best album since Horses.

'just kids" made me cry. it was so good!

i liked the story about being in an automat and being short a dime. allen ginsberg fronted her the coins because he thought she was a boy!

ive always thought she would have made a great poet laureate.

her detective novel will be out next year.

I've never had any sincere interest in her at all but bought 'Just Kids' a while ago because it was on sale for $3 and I just started reading it yesterday. Am halfway through and am totally hooked, I feel really close to her right now because the stories are so honest, detailed and well-written. It's awesome.

i can't wait for banga....love the first single april fool....so tender and romantic in the best way patti can do.

she's such a beautiful woman. Love her!, April fool is amazing!.

glorious banga.....

such vitality is lost in our image-obsessed,petulantly superficial culture. thank heavens for women like her.

build a good name. Keep your name clean. Don’t make compromises, don’t worry about making a bunch of money or being successful. Be concerned about doing good work. Protect your work and if you build a good name, eventually that name will be its own currency. Life is like a roller coaster ride, it is never going to be perfect. It is going to have perfect moments and rough spots, but it’s all worth it. Channel.louisiana.dk

Has anyone listened to Patti's song on the Catching Fire soundtrack? It's called Capitol Letter and I personally finding it incredibly haunting and beautiful. Even though the song is alluding to the story and to Katniss, I think it still stands on it's own as a good song too.

^i had to go have a listen to see what you mean….i didn't even know she was contributing(nor antony for that matter)….definitely haunting and i agree if i had heard this without knowing it was for the soundtrack i would have thought it was just a patti track.

how fantastic to see that vogue spread again….nostalgia for me because i had those images on my walls…
