Peter Som F/W 06.07 NYC

*the shoes remind me of balenciaga s/s06 :ermm:

Just a wide T-strap ... *perhaps* a heavily modified, wearable version of that shoe ... but there have been other T-strap variations, see Kenneth Cole for example ...

i only like a few of the dresses, the rest is not so great.
the model with the short dark hair w/bangs in #3 - her outfit + her hair makes me think of a magician with a top hat and a bunny coming out.

every time i see a show of his i guess who he's going to rip off this time...this season it's (surprisingly) yves saint laurent in all those buttoned up blouses, high wasted pants and wide belts...

...and some missoni print for good measure

the day has come... i  that first look posted. A few good concepts carried through to the rest, it seems, but I'm afraid most went to waste.

I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS DRESS!!

This collection is really womanly, while having touches of modern young chic!

This season's neutral palette is getting on my nerves...if the designer lacks imagination and is short on cutting and construction skills, the clothes just look dumb, dowdy and dull. Even the models look like they have been lulled to sleep.. At least I guess it is great for showing who is truly talented and who isn't...Richard Chai, Peter Som, they are almost interchangeable. Sad too that with the exception of United Bamboo, the young, new Asian designers are not proving to be exceptional. At least Anna Sui knows better and stuck to her crazy colours and prints to make up for a lack of new ideas.

I wonder if Anna Wintour is to be blamed for this parade of "safe" unimaginative, derivative clothes that look no different from past seasons, in fact, has been the same "young socialite chic" in NY season after season after season. With its vibrant, creative culture, I can't understand why NY style is in such serious trouble...shame. :ninja:

On to Milan and Paris!

I agree. It feels like deja vu when looking at these collections. Peter Som, Richard Chai, Derek Lam and even Thakoon, what's the difference? This ladylike trend is boring and tired IMO.

style.com said Som suffered from popped zippers... not a great first paragraph to have in a review... bad move...
